Johnny Townsend aside (who, if/when he signs with tOSU will forever be known as our "Johnny Football")...
Just for fun, pick one guy who you wish was also in this stellar recruiting class. I'd like to think that one or more of these kids might have committed if the coaches were able to establish & build a relationship earlier in the game.
- Jaylon Smith (LB - ND)
- Dorian Johnson (OL - Pitt)
- Ethan Pocic (OL - LSU)
- Tim Kimborough (LB - UGA)
- Mike Heuerman (TE - ND)
- Henry Poggi (DT - tsun)
- Other
Oh, FWIW my vote goes to Dorian Johnson.

I hate playing the shoulda woulda game, but for me, seeing as how he has ties to OSU already, Jaylon Smith was the one I really wish we could have snagged.
Just a life long Buckeye fan wanting to talk to other lifelong Buckeye fans. Our honor defend, we will fight to the end for OOO HIIII OOOOOO!
I'd go Dorian Johnson as well. For as amazing as this class is, the one thing it is missing is OL. It appears that we'll be getting quite a few next year, but it would've been nice to add at least 1 more in this class if we could.
I'm actually going to choose 2 because they're related - I'd like to have the Robinson twins from Oregon. Tall, athletic, and fast. Would have filled a LB and tall/lanky WR need.
Second choice would have been an O-Line player - maybe Pocic or Bosch.
Dorian Johnson - Because we need depth at OL and only picked up two, with 4 leaving next year.
I agree with this. If there was one thing this class was missing it was offensive line depth. An elite tackle prospect like Johnson would of been nice.
Any word on the talk about Billy Price getting moved to OL?
Jaylon Smith

David Dawson. We need guards and he could be a beast
Jaylon Smith/David Dawson
Best player on the list is Jaylon Smith, and I would have loved to have him. However, OL is our biggest need, so I'd have to go with Pocic or Johnson.
Dorian Johnson for me also the OL needs the depth he could have been a great addition to a stellar class.
Dorian Johnson
I like to believe that my best hits border on felonious assault.
JACK TATUM
Of the listed, would say Pocic. If we're going other, I say Derrick Green. Not because we need him, because it would cripple the emotions of the fans up north.
Johnny Townsend.
Ethan Pocic. Other than that I liked Su'a Cravens a whole lot, would've been a good piece. However we got Vonn Bell, who might fit Urban/Fickell/Withers D a lot better, so no complaints.
Have to go Smith, kid is a beast. I would put Johnson in at #2, a very close #2 because of need. But LB is a need and Jaylon is the best LB this year.
I dunno, I'm pretty high on Mitchell. Getting both would have been OK though :-)
You can kill a fly with your slipper or a cannon. Either way, the fly dies. -Ramzy
Smith and Mitchell would have been an amazing combo... Smith is the better LB though. Smith has the same physical abilities as Mitchell but is more ready from an instinct and coaching standpoint.
That is hard to believe after reading this.
I clicked on it... I regretted it immediately...
Mitchell may have a faster 40, but not my much. It's not a shot or negative comment on Mitchell, it's just a compliment to Smith. He's the better backer and a equally gifted athlete. Of course one has to be faster and quicker, but it doesn't mean they are not close.
Nike 2012 SPARQ:
Mitchell
40 - 4.39
Shuttle - 4.00
Verticle - 40.6
Powerball - 45.0
Smith
40 - 4.59
Shuttle - 4.41
Verticle - 32.6
Powerball - 40.0
---
Mitchell is well ahead on every metric. I don't dispute the consensus that Jaylon Smith is the better LB today, but he just doesn't have anything like Mitchell's raw physical ability if the SPARQ numbers are a fair measure.
I clicked on it... I regretted it immediately...
Jaylon ran faster on those drills in other cases. Again, I'm not downplaying Mitchell but Jaylon is a physical freak too.
None. I'll take the class the way it is. Wanna be a Buckeye and part of what we are doing, come on down. No I in TEAM.
I'm going with Jaylon Smith or Dawson. Not as high on Johnson, he wasn't very impressive in UA practices and games.
Derrick Green or Jaylon, in that order.
Have to go with an Elite Offensive Tackle. So it would be between Ethan Pocic or Hunter Bivin. Im not a huge fan of Dorian Johnson, because I think Pocic or Bivin are better and will have better college careers.
Hunter Bivin or Ethan Pocic as my pick on offense.
On Defense Id have to go with Jaylon Smith. From Day 1 of his recruitment, everyone thought he was going to be OSU bound (atleast the osu fans), so missing out on him really sucked. And I think he could of came right in and started for 3-4 yrs
#Buckeyes
Robert Nkemdeche, Robert Foster, Ryan Timmons, Jaylon smith
Diggs on offense and Jaylon on D.
Yes, i'm going back to last year.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
I wanna sign your mom!
Wherever you are, there you be!
WARNING: Mom jokes are a very bad choice.
That's ok. Can I sign his sister?
Wherever you are, there you be!
Has to be either Dorian Johnson or Jaylon Smith, we should be able to get guys that are this talented in our backyard.
I'm going to echo BuckeyeNinja and say Robert Foster. Insane potential and I actually think he needs a coach like Meyer as a father figure. I'm not sure he'll get that with Saban (I honestly don't know Saban's relationships with players).
James Quick or Foster
Vonn Bell...err, wait...
In seriousness though, most definitely Jaylon Smith and Robert Foster.
David Dawson or Dorian Johnson. Would've been nice to snag another for the O-line.
Dorian Johnson
I hope we get some really dominant offensive linemen next year. Can't wait.
I think I would have to go with Max Redfield. I would've liked to have seen Bell, Redfield, Burrows, and Apple in the NO FLY ZONE! I really like Thompson, Lee, and Conley but Redfield back there with Bell intimidating WR's would've been great. I really like our recruiting class. This group will win a national title.
Laremy Tunsil
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Dorian Johnson
Green or Smith...regardless I'm stoked with the class we signed yesterday. And in all honesty, we pulled a great RB and two great LB's anyways! So my two picks were just "wants" more than anything.
Would've been interesting to see what would've happened if we had 85 instead of 82. Assuming one would be Townsend, do you think the other 2 would both be OL or perhaps OL and another RB or QB? Personally think Green would've been a Buckeye with all 85 spots.
Champions Bleed Scarlet & Gray
From this list Jaylon Smith. I'm not sure what our two deep at DT is looking like right now, but I'd personally like to see Munger on the OL. He's a MEAN mofo on offense & I LOVE OL with a mean streak, especially with the way we're gonna handle the rock next season.
With that said, not on this list, Vernon Hargreaves III - I LOVE our guys, but this kid is something else. James Quick would've been nice, but I'm very excited about our James. Then maybe Dorian Johnson to add to the trenches & Derrick Green along with Johnny T.
"Leave...Your...Mark..."
Pocic, Jaylen Smith, Dorian Johnson
I would say Kendall Fuller. I know our secondary is already stacked and really good, but I would love for Ohio State to create a pipeline with Good Counsel in MD. That school is becoming a football factory. Sam Mustiphur in 2014 would be a HUGE get.
Jaylon Smith, above all, the kid looks like real beast, then Dorian Johnson, who could have been a stud for us, and of course TIMMONS!!!
jaylon smith

I know this sounds strange...but I would have liked Robert Foster as pick A and Jaylon Smith as pick B. Think having all the offensive weapons with the addition of him would be down right nasty. It already is to be quite honest...but adding a taller sized, fast wr to go along with Smith and the rest would have been great (it's the kid's head I'd be more worried about...we'll see how that pans out for Bama...?).

Foster is a beast. He blocks well too.
I think with the trio of Marshon Lattimore, Lonnie Johnson and Drake Harris next year we have a chance to land at least two of them. Your prayers for a tall receiver will be answered (and mine as well).
I still cant get over lst year losing out on Amari Cooper and Diggs.....

Anybody not saying an OLman must think they know better than Urbz. Johnson must be a mamma's boy not to choose to play for championships.
I'm going to go with Jaylon Smith as 1. If you add him to our lb haul already, our linebackers would be insane for a long time. 2 I would have to go with Robert foster. Adding another dimension to our offense would be awesome, and he's the kind of playmaker that could contribute early if our coaches could get his head straight (I think they could).
Dee Liner. It's the greatest name ever, for a defensive lineman.

definately Jaylon smith. can never have enough pass-rushers

I don't know that I want to mess with the chemistry of these guys that Urban has put together, however, if I could add one guy it would be hard not to pick the consensus #1 player Robert Nkemdeche or a player at a position of need like LB Smith or OL Dawson/Johnson but what I think I'll do is pick a player not yet picked on here with another Oregon commit in Thomas Tyner. Not a player of need and maybe not the best for Urban (although I think he'd still do amazing) but he's who I'll pick:
Beast Mode: He rushed for 643 yards and 10 touchdowns in a single game:
even oregon fans will say that the team he played to get 10 tds was downright awful. not that its not an amazing feat to score 10 tds in a game against anyone
Joe Bauserman...... Joking aside I would say Dorian Johnson
Johnson or Pocic. I really wanted Meyer to land another OL.
Dymonte Thomas
Mike McCray II
Taco Charlton
Jake Butt
Jaron Dukes
Ben Gedeon
Deveon Smith
Ross Douglas, or
Reon Dawson; Get the picture?
ANY Ohio kid that signed w/ that fat SOB @ TSUN
NO! Those kids can stay up there as far as I'm concerned. We cant sign them all. scUM can have our leftovers. Just like Hoke eats Meyers leftovers instead of them going into a trash can.
Im still discusted how you can go up rooting for a school like OSU then commit to a school like scUM. Its just not human and dosnt make sense. Ill never understand that. No matter what the kids say, I highly guarantee the "getting back at OSU" factor is HUGE in there decision when picking scUM.
#Buckeyes
The Big Johnson. GO BUCKS!
I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then.
I know on skill alone people wanted Foster. Not me! You have to take more than just on the field production into consideration with these kids, and I think we dodged a major bullet there. Give me the haul we had at WR. I'll take Smith. Quick was a bigger loss than Foster in my opinion.
I would of liked Dymonte just because it would of been a flip from AACC, and a good one at that. At the end of the day, Bell is a better pick up, but why not have both?
Foster is better than Quick...btw. Not seeing anyone above mentioning really wanting to have him on the team...I think it's bc of his head issues with him not committing to being a "student" athlete. That's why I mentioned lets see if his off the field/head issues comes to light at Bama. I tend to think it will...which is why I'm not sad about letting him go elsewhere.
I think OSU had him if they wanted him....Quick...as we all saw...that was another story. Not sure about you BT...but OSU got play makers...so it really doesn't matter that Quick and Foster went elsewhere...it's just the fact of having as many play makers as possible to get us past the likes of Bama and others in the SEC. Not to mention...it's not a real thread about attaining them for real anyway. The the art of imagination.....just saying.

Smith-Johnson........Trubinsky(my sleeper) kid plays at cluth time.
knucklehead
None of them. I only want players that want to be Buckeyes and I hope everyone on this board feels the same way. Be content with the abundance of talent that just signed on Wednesday. Any fanbase in America with exception of 2-3 would be absolutely thrilled with the players joining the S&G. We should be thrilled as well. OH..!!!
Ryan Timmons?
Smith then Johnson
I would say Johnson. We have injuries on the line this year and we could be hurting.
