Just thought I'd pass this info along to everyone. I just saw earlier that Parris Campbell was rated 90 and a 4* recruit on 247. I think that is where many of us expected him to be for his first ranking and I'm glad the kid got his well deserved recognition. I wouldn't be surprised to see him rise more as we continue through the recruiting cycle.

I was hoping he would be like an 88 or 87, 3 star. He well deserves his 90 and prolly even a 91 or 92. But I love them 3 stars that come to OSU and light the place up. Earn there respect for the team and buckeye nation and come out as a first round pick. ala Laurinaitis, Hankins, Jenkins, Robiskie, Sanzy, Chekwa, Roby and etc...........
I love those type of kids. The kid will be an animal at OSU when his time comes. Glad he get his rating though.

It's funny, I kind of understand what you are saying, but it's not as if his rating will affect his play. They could have rated him a 100 and 5* and he would still be the same player.
Glad we got this kid, his laser timed 40 was impressive.
90 is the default rating they give to guys they feel are probably 4 stars, but whom they haven't looked at enough yet. Don't be surprised to see him jump in the next comprehensive review.
Bingo, they know he is a 4* but they really don't have much on the kid. If he makes the camp circuits (one down) and shows them what they want to see he'll start to climb. Either way, as someone said above he will be the same player... but it is still a good indication to see him climb. If he makes the camps but doesn't perform well, it is also an indication.
I feel he will climb, his potential is pretty impressive given his age.
I'd like to see him climb, because ratings do matter, not for the individual, but for the program. Don't think that recruits aren't looking at Bama's perennial top ranked recruiting classes, and realizing that something special is happening that they want to get in on.
Hey Buck-I.8. Do you know what the scoring ranges are on 247 for each star? 100-95 is a 5*, 95-90 is 4*, etc. Something like that.
I believe they pick ~32 five stars a year.
It depends on player to player, but usually for 247 around 98 and up is a 5 star, and 90-98 is a four star. 80-89 3, etc.
4-6 seconds of relentless effort
Great, thanks guys.
Actually only 98s, 99s, and perfect 100s are rated as 5* on 247. The composite rating that combines Rivals, 247, Scout, etc and averages them out might show a higher number and a 5* for a recruit that is slightly lower on 247. In my opinion, the composite is the truest one to look at.
"Get him a body bag, Yeah!"
i love the kids upside! hes what 16? already running faster 40's than denard the retard
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
cambell is a stud. he is so fast, perfect fit for the offense. might make an impact on special teams as a freshman.

I feel like 90 is the rating they give recruits after they commit to big schools that 247 misses just to cover their bases
15 years old!!...This kid has an unlimited ceiling IMO. Very excited about this recruit regardless of his rating - he's going to be a good one.

I should call Mr. Meyer up. I have 2 exams tomorrow, and could definitely go for a "big helping of speed."
It's about time!! Parris deserves it!! Believe he will move even further up the board after some camps.
SCOTTC.
Agreed. I see him as a top 10 prospect in Ohio when it's all said and done. If he shows out at camps I definitely think he'll rise. It'll be interesting to see if he gets any more big time offers or if other schools will just avoid wasting their time and offering him since he seems to be ALL buckeye.
I wouldn't be surprised if he were top five, or close to it. After the first three it's a little clouded:
It'll all depend on the development of the offensive linemen (Jones, Trout, Richardson). If Parris does what everyone expects him to do, I could see him ahead of those three linemen.
