It's being reported on Twitter that Lawrence Marshall is at the MSU/scUM game tonight sitting with MSU football players. Anyone think this is cause for concern? Urban did say getting a commitment meant making their top 3.

Not worried or concerned about the visit. Commitments especially early ones will lead to other visits and possibly some decommitments. Plus, this may easily have been a visit he had planned on before the commitment this weekend too. If we're gonna pursue Drake Harris as one of our top wr targets, then I have no problem with msu continuing to go after Marshall.

It's Marshall's birthday and he's already been on twitter recruiting at least Kitt, I believe, to tOSU. I think, or at least hope, he is just enjoying his bday and doing some recruiting in enemy territory.
Hopefully he is there to either A) Enjoy a good game or B) Recruit Malik McDowell & Drake Harris

I believe it's rather smart. Now, send him after a few offensive lineman as well.....
I believe this visit has two purposes:
1) there recruiting Drake Harris and Malik McDowell
2) more importantly: this is a rivalry game between two top ten teams so if he wants to go because its a free tickets then by all means
Marshall seems totally sold on OSU in his "Catching Up" so I'm not worried one bit.
#2 plus it's in state and I'm sure he knows a bunch of the MSU players and recruits.
My only concern would be him developing a relationship with them and flipping.
If you were a junior in high school from a state where 2 top notch basketball teams were playing each other and were given free tickets to it and had nothing better to do would you turn them down? Personally I'd rather see the kid have some fun and staying out of trouble then end up like those 4 Bama freshman

Hopefully Lawrence Marshall turned to Drake Harris and Malik McDowell on his left at the end of the game and said, "See what MSU just did to Michigan right now? OSU football is going to put the same 75 points up against Michigan for the next 4 years. You'll need to decide which side of that whooping you want to be on."
He may know some of these people also. He is from Michigan. I'd look at it differently if he went to an out of state school, like bama or Florida something like that

Probably no cause for concern and its a long way to go, but it would be nice if this class head a leader early on ...I dont think its going to be Jones, as he talks about taking alot of visits and talks about other schools alot, etc...perhaps Webb, he seems awful solid with his choice or Trout..
I agree... We need a leader in this recruiting class. I believe McMillan and Barker are the best guys for the job, but it doesn't look like either of them are going to commit soon. Barker doesn't even have an offer.
Kids just doing the smart thing... getting a nice dinner, access to some semi hot Michigan girls and a free ticket to a premier Big ten basketball matchup... If your a Mitten State kid... why wouldn't you go and string Dantonio along ?!?!

If we have to worry about losing a recruit to MSU then we have bigger problems on the horizon. I seriously doubt we have anything to worry about.

Well if Quin Blanding plans on committing to a school next month and if he really does have tOSU as his leader without taking a visit, then I fully expect Urban to get this kid on campus and close him by the end of next month. If and when Blanding joins, I think we will gain a ton of momentum moving forward. Rumor is McMillan wants to be an early enrollee so I could see him committing early as well, we just need to get him on campus. I have complete faith in Meyers ability to attract top talent and then after that talent attracts more talent. I think it is funny that people spread rumors about Meyer using negative recruiting tactics and lies when all you hear from recruits is how much they repspect and like him as a person and coach. Does a man with two national titles, multiple BCS bowl wins, and plenty of kids in the NFL really have to use negativity to attract talent? Especially at a place like tOSU! You better believe that when tOSU was recieving sanctions that other B1G coaches were making sure to let recruits know about that, so the fact that they hold themselves up is ridiculous. Meyer knows what he wants to do and knows how to do it, the guy knows how to win, plain and simple and kids see that. They understand what it means to play for Urban Meyer at Ohio State and becuase of that, he will continue to be in on and land some of the best recruits year after year. I would not be surprised to see Blanding, Peppers, McMillan, Garrett, Kitt and Harris in this class.
MArshall may be on Scums campus tonight, being reported over at 247 sports. Couldnt read much of the VIP posts but what I gathered from the posts I could read is that it's a OSU commit from Michigan. Think it's Marshall just because he's been to two campus' and one person pointed out "don't see why he would commit and then take vists days later."

Kinda feels like this kid committed too early. Even in his interview with 11W he said no one, including his parents expected it.
Damon Webb came into his visit having the idea of possibly committing in his mind and I'm sure his parents had some idea of the possibility too. Plus it was an over night stay, and I believe the committ occured on the second day of the visit, so I'm sure there was discussion going on there between him and his parents.

This is a kid I'm not too worried about:
1) Nothing that he's done shows me he doesn't want to be a Buckeye. He visited MSU for a basketball game and Michigan on a Wednesday. Those aren't even weekend trips. He can't see that much in one night.
2) While he gives us great momentum recruiting in Michigan he's not one of the "must gets" in this class. This is not to say that I don't want him because his film is great and looks atheltic as heck. But if we lost him there's certainly other players who can replace him.

I heard someone mention on another forum that they felt Marshall had these visits planned before he commited to OSU? Would kind of take away from the "Surprise Visitor" point the staff at 247 are selling, though. If they were essentially pre-arranged I'd see it as even less of an issue.
Long time till NSD though, I'm sure we'll gain some lose some. Gain a lot, mostly lol.
As long as we keep Webb and hopefully add Mcdowell and Harris, I would consider that a very succesful haul from tsun. Obviously, keep Marshall would be ideal. But like others have stated seems he could be replaced.
