I was thinking today of what an amazing class this is and how in reality we could have had 3 more people join it without the reductions. It got me wondering who else OSU would have reached out to without the reductions. For me personally, being from the Dayton area, kids like Malik Zaire and Lovell Peterson stand out as kids we never really pursued because of a number of reasons, but at least for Peterson I wonder if it had to do with the number of scholarships. Same thing with a guy like Trubisky (even though I think J.T. is better and way happier to have him). I wondered if there is anyone else out there that you guys think we would have looked at more with more space? Someone who might be more of a project/riskier choice to go after. Anyways who would you guys think might have been an pursued more if we had more space?

i usually try to stay away from the "what if" game, but since i have to wait 7 hours for Wilsons commitment ehhh what the heck...
i think we might have offered some of the Ohio guys earlier like Courtney Love and Mike Mccray
However, i am VERY pleased with the class we have now and im very excited
Timmons would be a Buckeye. I think Redfield would be one as well
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
It's definite.
If OSU had 3 more scholarships this year, you would have gotten Shane Morris, Laquon Treadwell and Derrick Green as part of your 2013 class. I called all three guys, and that is what they told me. They also told me not to post anythning about it on Twitter. So this is just between us, okay?
The funny part is that Derrick Green would almost certainly be a Buckeye if we had three more scholarships. I think that Elder would as well, and we would have taken one more quarterback, probably Trubisky.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
Not sure Green would have been in the bag as he was an elusive recruit from the get go. Had we gotten him, we very well may not have gotten Elliott.
We would probably have offered that Juco linebacker and we would probably have had the luxury of taking Jacobs and Timmons
Would've been nice to get Green and Treadwell, but you can keep Zach Morris.
Dont you dare call Shane Morris the name of one of the greatest sitcom characters of all time
Eh, to each their own, but I never really cared for Saved by the Bell.
Buck-I.8, I'm with you on this one. Saved By the Bell is a classic.
Keep Calm and Ignore the Trolls.
It isn't a very good show but guess what? it doesnt have to be, its iconic
Don't forget about Jesse's song... "I'm soooo excited!" Classic. Love Saved by the Bell.
Morris doesn't fit our offense, so he never would've been a Buckeye... I believe Green would be and Treadwell never really was interested in OSU. I think Timmons would obviously be a Buckeye. I think we would've ended up with 1 more OL.
Don't sleep on Shane Morris...he would have been great as our 3rd string back up and would have had a lot of this happening below....on the scout team. Funny...funny....now you're funny too;-)
I especially love the way his head so gently hits the ground...priceless....

In all honesty, I don't think anyone from this class would have gotten in cause I think the staff would have used those 3 scholarships for last year's class
Timmons
Thinking about it, I think had we had the 3 more scholarship we might have gotten these guys.
1 of McCray or Kimbrough (both loved OSU but were lower on our board than others)
1 of Timmons or Elder
A player like Mitch Trubisky as a second QB or a second TE like Heuereman.
I don not think we were going to get Green. Elliott took his spot. Had Green wanted to commit in the spring and done it ahead of Elliott we would have had Green instead of Zeke. Both are great, one just wanted to wait to commit to a school and lost his potential spot.
Assuming we take 2-3 more in this class, we are going to end up with 26 kids in this class. That would already be tied for Ohio State's largest class in a long time (since the 2006 class, I'm too lazy to look back further on my phone). Now we are talking about "what if" 3 more? That would make 29 folks!
There is NO room for oversigning or room-making methods like it at Ohio State. If Urban ever even tries, he should lose much of our blessing/support. Lets not lose sight of things due to the over-excitement put into recruiting.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Honestly, you better get used to this. Not that Urban is going to start pulling a Saban and greyshirting every three star are forcing kids to medical redshirt when they shouldn't or don't want to, but the culture will definitely be different.
The best players will play, not matter if they're freshmen or redshirt seniors who've started for 2 years. Some guys will not like not playing and will transfer out because of that. Also, with a more national approach you have a better chance of guys transfering because of being homesick.
It's hard to say for sure we would have taken three more this year, because Meyer would have definitely had a bigger class last year (think Neal for example).
If we had 85 scholarships that would mean that Tressel wouldn't have lost them and that he would still be our coach. In that case we would have had a full compliment of Ohio recruits and just a couple 3 star national recruits who would become great players. We would have also gotten at least 2 stud OL who would not develop with the walrus coaching them. Trubiski would have committed as well after hearing an inspirational speech from the AV guy, I mean QB coach. And finally this site would be a ghost town because there would be no suspense this close to signing day. Oh yea, our class would likely still be a top 5 class. Tress almost always had good recruiting classes but rarely added any late commits.
They might have taken a flier on Jake Butt(Michigan) or Godwin Igwebuike(Northwestern) out of pickerington north.....
i would have liked us to get Godwin, but that might be because we go to the same school and talk every day haha
I went to central lol....that being said the kid had some skills and they both kinda came on late which is why osu didn't really have them on the radar......godwin has that elusive bounce in his step like braxton it would have been interesting
it definitely didn't help him that he had to sit out his sophomore year because of transfer rules. He may have been on more teams radars
In all seriousness...since we have a borderline troll above...I'd say Trubisky (may be or an Olineman), Elder (may be...if Timmons didn't get in), and Green for sure...bc that's why he's at tTUN MMan...bank that statement (can't be a Buckeye...be a skunk weasel instead...theoretically to beat us...Good luck with that)...we'll see how that pans out for him in four to five years...hopefully he'll look like this below.
I could see Green making this very same face...with that very same record below it;-)

Go check out Derrick Green's list of offers and then try and mock him... Just saying. I'm looking forward to having to face him and Morris in the sense that it will be incredible competition. I'm not looking forward to it in the sense that Michigan is going to be very good for years to come.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Point? Henning and Hart were far from scrubs, and they finished 0-4 against Ohio State.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
My point being that this guys' idea that Morris and Green "aren't good enough for Ohio State" is silly and ignorant.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Green is, though we have 3 Green's on the roster that we call Hyde, Smith and Dunn. Morris is the 2nd coming on Anthony Morelli and wouldn't see the field from anywhere but the bench for 4 years.
Yep. Glad we have an on-point and to-the-facts talent evaluator like you on 11W, man.

October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
You should take your own advice and go look at Morris' offer list. Seems Urban and really almost every premier CFB team agrees that he's not their school's material. Lots of MAC schools want him though, so he's got that going for him.
http://michigan.scout.com/a.z?s=162&p=8&c=1&nid=4880399
Green OTOH is a good prospect who's offer sheet shows it. Were we not loaded at Power Back he's be headed to Columbus too.
Not to be the UM apologist but I think Morris' offer list has a lot more to do with the fact that he was a very early commit. Jalin Marshall's offer list looks almost identical to Shane's.
Could be. The HUGE difference between Marshall and Morris is their production. Morris struggled in a weak HS football conference while Marshall was flat out dominant. Morris usually looks good in 7 on 7's but seems to struggle whenever he has pads on. Its possible he turns out to be a good college QB, but as of now he's done nothing on the field to show to show he deserves the Hype he's gotten.
Both were early commits. A lot of big programs didn't bother trying to swing early committing hometown kids.
It's funny you mentioned the 7 on 7 King/Champ. I seem to remember a certain decommit OLB saying that M&M (as I like to call Mike Mitchell) was a combine king/champ after winning the SPARQ award at The Opening for that nice 4.39 forty (and showing that decommit up btw considering his was a 4.7 forty;-). I have a feeling I know which LB is going to have more success...he'll be wearing Scarlet and Gray:-)

If you think Mike Mitchell runs a 4.39 40 you, sir, need a more functional bullshit meter installed in you. I hate to sound pro-Michigan, because I'm sure they're just as ridiculous about this stuff as some of you guys are, but it just gets silly.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
.If you DON'T think Mitchell runs a 4.39 or at least very close to it, I question how much you actually paid attention to recruiting this summer. The opening laser times these 40s, and Mitchell ran a 4.45 followed by a 4.39. Laser timed is the most precise you can get at measuring a 40 yard dash
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Oh my goodness you just called me out on not stalking high schoolers all year? Correct I didn't meticulously follow his recruitment this summer and read about his every footstep. These 40 times are B.S.'ed. 'That's why these high school and college kids who run "4.2"s and "4.3"s get to the NFL combine and run 4.4's and even 4.5's or 4.6s. 40 times don't mean squat cause a good majority of the time they're not true.
October 20th: National Kenneth Guiton Day
Haha never did I mention anything related to stalking or even meticulously following Mitchell's recruitment. If you came to this forum during the month if July you would've seen Mikes 4.39. And while I agree that most self-reported 40s are BS, 99% of those weren't laser timed on national television. Laser Timing is what the NFL combine uses to measure 40 times, so id be willing to wager a good amount that Mitchell runs very close to that number
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Triv...don't waste your time....I'm not anymore...don't even know why I tried telling him that ppl in Oregon did it and you mentioned the laser time. Oh well...some ppl know everything...

@JakeBuckeye: You misinterpreted what I meant...with Brax360, Kenny G, Barrett, and Jones would mean the bench for Morris bc of our talent we already have (which means...he's never been an option for that reason). If we had no one else to choose from...of course we'd recruit him...just look at 2014's second recruit who committed. So no...not good enough isn't exactly what I meant.
As far as Green's concerned...I wanted him in this class Bad and still do....but when you choose the enemy due to lack of room (or whatever)...well bro...that makes you the enemy. I wish nothing but 0-4 on him...and you should too...or you'd be rooting against your own team.

You never know how Green will turn out... we did land Curtis Grant from the same high school, #1 LB in a lot of recruiting circuits and he's barely seen the field for us. I'd take Eze over Green anyways.
Timmons would be in and osu would have taken a few more linemen they might have felt were boarderline like meadows
Stay golden, Ponyboy.
This^^is why missing out on Green for what ever reason really doesn't matter now. Would it have been fantastic to get him...of course. Urban would have 5 Clydesdale horses (Hyde, Smith, Dunn, Warren Ball 6'1 215, who many are forgetting about, and if OSU had 85 schollies Green) to go along with his Thoroughbreds (EzE, Marshall at times, Philly B at times and now lets cross our fingers...D. Wilson with just a few carries less than EzE). Look out folks but I'd say even without Green...we got ourselves some playmakers if all pans out;-)

I'll go with Trubisky. Something tells me we're going to be hearing a lot from him through his college career. Maybe Derrick Green. He seemed determined to stretch out his recruitment, and if we had more room, Urban might've stayed in the game for him, but the position is so deep, it wasn't a need, and limited scholarships meant it was an unaffordable luxury.
Couple of linemen and tiimmons
Meg.

who's Meg? Is that a recruit's initials? I'm trying to figure M.E.G. or something
hmmm
If we had 3 more schollies I think Urbz would have reached out to more offensive linemen.
