Elijah Hood ATH (RB/LB) Charlotte, NC (Charlotte Catholic HS)
Hood's current top three, in order: Notre Dame, Michigan and Ohio State. Rivals has Hood as a 5* Athlete and is there #12 over all ranked player nationally. 247Sports has him as a high 4* with a composite ranking of 0.9672. Hood has some impressive highlights on the offensive side of the ball, however he prefers linebacker a "slightly" more then running back because he, "generally like(s) to hit people". He also says if he does play running back in college he'll be more of a, "physical running back". The Ohio State University offered Hood on December 04, 2012 and he will visit this coming Sunday, after visiting Notre Dame today and Michigan on Saturday. Elijah Hood likes fun atmosphere and accountability with Ohio State and plans on making an announcement in the spring.

Are spelling notre dame "noter dame" on accident? Or is it like a joke that I don't get? Not trying to be picky but just wondering.
Btw, love these threads!
+1 Nope, no joke, just an early morning typo. Thanks for catching it and for the feedback!
I might be missing something, but what is the appeal with ND? South Bend is a shitty town, has shitty weather and no social scene. I realize there is some football appeal but the rest would outweigh the positives to me.
You also have the academics to consider
Academics, tradition, movies about football only mildly based on anything true, etc.
Many people feel that Columbus hits at least the first two on your list as well. Personally, I love this city, but I'm also pretty biased.
NYC or LA, Columbus may not be. But it is light years ahead of South Bend. The weather in South Bend is a lot worse as well. Always seems to be cold and raining.
Said on a cold and raining day in Columbus... Look, not trying to hate on my own city, but just saying that ruling a prestigious college out because of weather or night life might be a leap that not everyone will take.
Don't forget about Keanu Reeves who has played ex Ohio State quarterbacks in two movies. As Special Agent Johnny Utah and the down on his luck, but highly inspirational Shane Falco.
Pain heals. Scars fade but glory is forever!!!
TOSUMAN, For Hood specifically there is a great deal of appeal with ND. Academics, comfort level with fitting in on the team (former teammate was a Freshman OLineman in 2012) and on campus (7 kids from his high school started school at ND last fall), coaching staff, spirituality just to name a few. Not every kid wants the same thing when looking for a school. The key phrase to your post would be the "to me" part at the end.
Hood is at Michigan now for their junior day and will visit OSU tomorrow. He told 247 that his visit to ND confirmed everything he thought about the program going into it and ND is still his clear #1 with no need to put into order any schools after that. He also feels like the process is about done for him.
Hood. I like the kid, but not sure how many backs we take this year. Sure wouldn't want him in the same backfield up north with Green though. lol
also
In the last vid, the play at 2:12, player #3 on the white team gets JACKED! NEVER jump when the impact is coming! Never! LOL He was feeling that well after the game.
Trotwood-Madison. Once a Ram, Always a Ram.
Yah I think this kid is really good, but to be honest I still would have Hurd a little higher on my list. Hurd is more versatile IMO. Hurds a more fluid athlete and has the edge in speed too. Don't get me wrong though Hood would be an awesome addition as well, but I would consider Hurd 1a and Hood 1b if that makes sense.
perfect sense to me
Trotwood-Madison. Once a Ram, Always a Ram.
+1 Makes sense to me.
Personally my list right now goes like this:
I.)A.)i.) Jalen Hurd
ii.) Joe Mixon
B.) Elijah Hood
II.) A.) Jonathan Hilliman
B.) Nick Chubb
The crazy thing is we could land all of these guys and have none of play running back but have some one like Nick Chubb or Jonathan Hilliman. Hurd and Mixon could be receivers and Campbell could be a slot guy with Chubb and Hilliman at RB and Hood at LB since he says he actually slightly prefers LB. Now I know that there is almost no way that this would ever happen and that almost all these guys will be RB, with the exception of maybe one or two being that PH/slot role and most of them on different teams. The main point was to show just how good, diverse and athletic these recruits are. They are all RB's that could almost all play different positions and excel at the D1 level.
Good list. Can't decide who I want more between Hood and Mixon.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Kid reminds me of Ricky Williams.
vacuuming sucks
"however he prefers linebacker a "slightly" more then running back because he, 'generally like(s) to hit people'"
^Most interesting part to me! So, who's recruiting him at LB and who's recruiting him at RB (college-wise)? It was my assumption that everyone was recruiting him at RB. Gotta think the kid would be a fascinating LB prospect given his speed, power and aggressiveness. 6'0" is a bit atypical for a LB though, with the exception of perhaps your speedy, pass-coverage oriented OLBs. Especially if you consider that he may or may not even be a full 6'0" (i.e. many early measurements for recruiting sites are embellished a bit).
Could be a fascinating recruitment to see out if he's genuinely considering LB.
Zach Boren liked to hit people and he did alright at RB and LB (ok, I know... he played FB). I say sign him up, then decide where to play him.
Hood at his Notre Dame visit:
For a second that looked like an Ohio State jacket.

I had to double check it too, but it's a Charlotte Catholic High School letterman jacket:
The guy @ 2:38 is in the second video was hlarious.

Hood said he was given a, "personal tour by coach Kelly".
After Hood's visit to ND, he still has the Irish in the lead. It is being reported that he is all but a, "done deal" to Notre Dame. Mind you, that these reports are from before is visit to TSUN today and tOSU tomorrow. He arrived in Ann Arbor (which I have confirming reports [not from Hood] verifying that AA is yes indeed STILL a whore!) about four hours ago and he just took this (in my opinion) hideous picture:
Love the kid's feet. He has a great sense for leverage and balance, and perhaps some anger issues. I would love to see some defensive highlights.
Wow. Runs like Beanie. Looks like a grown man playing with grade school kids.
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
Kid has nowhere near the speed that Beanie had. It isn't a knock against him as his speed is good/acceptable. He does have outstanding balance and power with real good vision.
They're saying he's ND lock now, eh? At least it's not the SEC. Victory for OSU as I see it lol.
Doesn't really help OSU that he's dropping by on a weekend that Urban Meyer isn't there.
+1 Thanks, I didn't' realize that Urban isn't there this weekend and for Hood's visit. It may show that Hood isn't as high on his list, and or that he realizes tOSU isn't that high on Hood's list. I'm hoping it actually means good news in Meyer's confidence to land Hurd (and Mixon).
Just another note: Lawrence Marshall is on M!ch!g@n's campus today as well.
I believe Urban Meyer is currently on the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer which is why he isn't on campus this weekend. Have to think a cause like that (plus time he's getting to spend with his family) ranks pretty high.
Mason Cole, Michael Ferns, Elijah Hood, Wilton Speight, Drake Harris & George Campbell on their visit to M!ch!g@n today. Lawrence Marshall is on campus right now but isn't in any pictures. Malik McDowell will arrive tonight around 9 pm and Kyle Berger and Shaun Crawford will arrive tomorrow morning.
A picture Hood took today of the, "Big House".
Thanks for posting this, graybox. I appreciate your posts because you supply ALL information available, not just pro-OSU. Plus, I really didn't want to try and post a picture using my phone. +1

Is it possible that Drake Harris is not really 6'5''? Not that I would not be overjoyed if he signed with us, but he just seems a little shorter than that.
Yeah, he's 6'3"-6"4" according to the major recruiting sites. Good mix of size and athleticism.
Hurts my eyes.
I'm surprised they didn't put him in that ugly juicy fruit uniform they wore against Ohio State.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Word is his visit to Crapagain went better than anyone expected. Will be interesting to see what he thinks of OSU today, but ND might be a little worried after his reaction to yesterday's visit.
I wonder if Hoke cried when he heard that.

Update: Hood said about his visit, "I loved Michigan that was eye opening".
He arrived in campus about am hour ago for the last of his three visits this weekend.
Also said Michigan would be his #1 today, but he wants to wait a couple days to sort his thoughts.

There's a saying about recruits this early in their recruitment, "Whatever his last visit was, that was his favorite."
Which is why you get so many kids committing/decommitting/committing/decommitting/etc. See: Lawrence Marshall. They get the "visit high," are treated like a hero for a day or two, think that's the best place on earth, then they leave, visit elsewhere and completely rethink the whole process. That's why the commitments, and top 5s, I buy into are the ones on NSD haha.
Hail, where did you see that about him saying they could be #1? I saw someone say that on another site yet I couldn't find any evidence of him saying that and the poster didnt back it up with any evidence. All I saw was his twitter post about the visit being "eye opening" but nothing else. Just curious where that info came from, Thanks!
247 quotes his as saying Michigan is right there with ND. He isn't sure if he will visit either of them again soon and will let things settle in from all of his visits before making a decision on anything.
Update: Bucks Insider article ($): Elijah Hood recaps his recent road trip. I don't have a subscription, but there is a rather good info in the free teaser paragraph that includes this quote from Hood:
No Urban, and Ohio State still moves up? Cool beans.
Does anyone know who's recruiting Hood?
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Only ND, UNC and Clemson were ahead of Ohio State before this visit so it would seem that we'd at least be in his top three and like you said, with no Urban.
Everett Withers covers North Carolina, and that region of the U.S., he is most likely the lead recruiter at the moment.
Withers is his recruiter
graybox does an unreal job at posting this stuff, highlights and info always nice to see
"limitations, like fears are often just illusions"
-Michael Jordan, the greatest athlete of all time
Hood's tape is pretty incredible. That said does anyone have a sense of what level of North Carolina football that is?
ND holds onto the lead for now.

Nothing like dancing on the field in 02...
haha nope that isn't working either. I've posted tweets on here before without having to do that. Oh well.
Updated: New top 3(1.ND 2. TSUN 3. tOSU), what he liked about tOSU (fun atmosphere and accountability) and announcement time frame (Spring)
It was funny watching ND fans freak out this weekend.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Update: Hood attened the MSU vs. tOSU game last Sunday and was, "was pretty impressed by the atmosphere at the game". LGHL article (free): Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets, 2/27 - Vadas commits to Penn State.
