Speaks for itself. I don't have a Rivals membership so I can't confirm on my own, but if it's true, this is HUGE. Him + Webb + Peppers would probably guarantee us the top DB class for two years in a row.
RT, real big news @buckeyeinfo: Rivals saying that Buckeyes are widely considered to lead for 5* DB Quin Blanding. Big news
— jbook (@jbook37) February 13, 2013

Hey, you take it for what it's worth. Good news, though a mighty long time to go; just be glad we're mentioned at this point.
maybe not that long, he has mentioned he would like to commit early and be a recruiter for his team.
Hes deciding before his junior year and visiting very soon its looking real good.
Pretty much likes UFM history with DB's and TOSU history of corners and will visit this month. TOSU slightly in the lead.
History of corners? On film I'd say this kid is the best safety in the class, maybe even best in the 2013 class too. Interesting he mentioned corners
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Well just defensive backs in general didn't mean to put corners and I didn't reread what I typed for posting. Sorry for the confusion.
No biggie! Thanks for the info

If he's list stays this way...it will be HUGE!

Said he wants to visit soon and make a decision sooner rather than later... =)
He (obviously) would be a huge pick up but I am starting to wonder if a B1G team is going to be able to complete a pass against OSU in the next couple of years. Blanket coverage and a nasty d-line giving a quarterback about 3 seconds to get a ball off is a scary thought.
This would be huge news!
He's widely considered a top5 player and most thought Virginia or FSU led.
If we locked him up to go with Webb, then we could throw everything at Jabrill Peppers.
Not even sure if theres room for 4 DBs but could you imagine a class of Webb and Peppers at CB with Todd Kelly Jr And Blanding at S? Talk about a no fly zone
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Uh...don't think you tell one of this caliber no.
Was referring to Kelly as being the one left out, but again how do you tell someone like that no?
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
I think Marshon Lattimore is being looked at as a DB as well, though he can probably play on either side of the ball.
If we land Webb and Peppers at CB Marshon might be better suited for offense anyways. He's a stud at corner but I think both of those guys are a notch above him
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Yep. Who knows what position he'll end up at but looks like he could excel on either side. Good return guy too I believe.
#BuckeyeProblems
Hate to do lame twitter hashtags in a forum post, but this warranted it haha. That would be such a wonderful problem to have, compadres!

Sorry, couldn't help myself.
It's quite hard to resist once you get started doing it lol.
Gliver reported that he spoke with severel sources with both FSU and Virgina and they believe OSU has a slight lead over FSU and VA, He is going to a Junior day at FSU this weekend I believe and he will be coming to OSU soon. Likes Urbans history with Defensive backs.

Thanks for the info!
What is amazing is that FSU and Virginia were thought to be the two clear leaders for Blanding.
And he hasn't even visited yet.
I really wasn't even counting on us having a chance but I guess we do!
I was just getting over my man crush on Kelly Jr when I read this gem

Well, that just brightened my day. Blanding and Bell as safeties? Yes please.
Wow. Keep loading up Urb. Might as well be us to break on thru this SEC stranglehold on the MNC.
The talent and depth at secondary would be at an all time elite level if we sign Peppers, Blanding and Webb. Add Burrows, Apple, Conley, Bell, Thompson, Lee from 2013, Murray, Reeves, Bogard, Powell from 2012. What an incredible two-deep by time the 2014 season rolls around.
Out second string could start on every other roster in the big 10 if that's the way it plays out haha
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Urban never runs out of options on the recruiting trail. He and the staff are a well-oiled machine. Bell, Burrows, Thompson, and Apple. Followed up by a potential DB class of Webb, Peppers, Blanding, Kelly Jr. or Glass? Few teams or coaches can assemble talent like this year after year.
It is really EARLY though but still would be unreal if that DB class happened for 2014...

That entire D is looking to be stacked for years.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Not trying to be overzealous, but this recruiting is starting to look a LOT like the LSU and Bama teams that both made it to the Nat'l Championship game two years ago. Not offensively, but defensively. I think you could argue without much resistance that the strongest part of those LSU and Bama teams were their secondary. You could soon see an OSU team that recruits/develops similarly--not that our DL or LB crew will be any less strong, especially our DL. But that secondary could be top 1 or 2 in the country in a couple of years.
I didn't see this posted yet, but it appears that Blanding will be deciding in about a month or so. I saw this RT from one of the guys at LGHL. I double checked Quick Bits for today, and sure enough, Gene has Michael Langston from Rivals FSU reporting the same thing and more. Go to Quick Bits and read what Gene posted, I think you'll like it!
So we go from not in his top 3 to the favorite without a visit? Yes please!
I assume he intends to visit between now and when he announces (or maybe he's waiting to announce until after his visit).
Visiting in 2 weeks from what I hear.
I was shocked by the Blanding news to say the least only because he didn't visit and he's deciding with in a month or so. I hope Zach Smith is on his A game.
When someone shows you who they are believe them! In other words piss a good friend off and see what they really think about you.
I think these kids know we have limited spots. The pressure is on to secure your spot.

why do people keep forgetting about Montae Nicholson being in this class? Hes a safety from Monroeville, PA. He was just announced as #47 in Rivals 100. also is #185 in 247.
Apparently he grew up in Columbus and always wanted to be a Buckeye.
also Laurence Jones from Monroe, LA. OSU was his favorite school growing up and he is #25 on rivals, and #20 on 247. Apparently LSU fans think we are the favorite to land him.
We already have Webb and Lattimore will most likely be a Buckeye. Then throw in the fact of us being so high on Blandings and Peppers lists.
Just Wow!
#Buckeyes
I don't think anyone is forgetting about Montae. In fact, on TOS they are already predicting him to be part of this class.
well not very many ppl are talking about him. thats what i meant.
#Buckeyes
Probably because there hasn't been any news on him or Laurence Jones for that matter in a couple months.
What's there to talk about right now? Once he visits we'll be talking about him more.
thats true so +1. But im talking about when people predict there classes and start talking about who will be in the class and that type of stuff, people forget to mention them 2.
#Buckeyes
Both peppers and lattimore are athletes that can play anywhere. Webb and blanding are true position players that have been considered some of the best at camps out of both 2013 and 2014 classes. Throw in Nicholson at S and either peppers or lattimore at CB, with the other going offense, we'll have the best DBs in the country and probably defense for that matter.
Oh And throw in Erik Smith to play the "glenville" star spot and we're really stacked. This kid will get more hype once he gets to camps really good player. Go bucks!
Smith is a player for sure plays a little out of control at times but theres not many that have his athleticism for a safety. Gets overshadowed by Lattimore but if he plays under control then look out!
I think people need to forget about Lattimore to DB. He is way to exposive with the ball in his hands not to be a wide receiver. Plus IF and a big IF we land Webb, Peppers, Blanding, and one of Kelly, Nicholson, Montea there will be no way Lattimore plays DB. Either way though, Lattimore is an ELITE player and must get.
Those "people" are the industry experts who get paid to make projections. He is projected that way because of his burst and prototypical frame for a shutdown CB.
Yep, I've heard the same thing. Will be a little sad to me if he does end up at CB, though -- his highlight film looks almost exactly like Stefon Diggs from a couple years ago; natural, playmaking WR with all of the tools. I can't say whether his film is indicative of the way he plays typically, though. And the experts certainly know more than I do.
True, but Ginn was "projected" as a CB and we all know how that turned out.
Yes, and Bradley Roby was a WR prospect, and we know how that turned out.
Like I said, it doesn't really matter if he plays WR or CB. Lattimore will be elite and dominate no matter what.
I think Lattimore will be used in the slot
Agreed at the start until route running gets better just like w/ any bigtime ATH he dominates bc of that. Talk about an embarrasment of riches for slot though good lord! If he does become a better route runner though I feel he would be better on the outside he should end being physically able to handle the outside blocking assignments. Above all else I am in total agreement the kid is just too special with the ball in his hands.
Buckeyes lead for all ...
