Kyle Trout a 2014 OL prospect from Lancaster, OH.
I was on buckeyeplanet.com looking at the 2014 Recruiting Board Threads and was on Kyle's. Rapture, Kyles father said "This may seem strange, but I am not prepared to comment any further right now... however, there is one OSU site that is way off on what's going on with Kyle right now. And 11w is on top of things....".
May I ask what the deal is with Kyle Trout and Ohio State.
Many people thought he would of had an offer by now. But Kyle's father seems to think 11Warriors has the scoop/low down and is on top of everything when it comes to Kyle Trout.
So does any staff members know whats going on with him?
Thanks and sorry if this has been asked lately, just very curious as I would love to have Kyle in this class.

I read that Coach Warriner was at his hoops game last week. Alex has said that Trout is one of his favorites.. I think someone was saying that an offer may be coming soon, but can't remember which staffer it was.
i also heard about him being visited by coach Warriner at his hoops game. but its great to hear that an offer could be coming soon. Lancaster has been good to OSU and I wish the staff would offer both Trout and Richardson and lock them up. Get 2 very solid OL for the 2014 class. 3 if you consider Jones as an OL, but Im hearing he might play DT instead. Then fill the last few OL spots in this class with who ever the staff wants. They can really take there time on focusing on who they want to fill them last few spots and hopefully really find out which OL targets are serious about OSU. Maybe even thos OL targets that want in the class, jump on the offer and take there spot instead of possibly missing out. I just dont think the staff can go wrong with getting Trout, Richardson and 2 OOS studs.

Kid deserves an offer. I feel the staff waiting too long on some other kids last year that we missed out on. I'd love to see him in the S&G
Exactly how I feel.
Im afraid the staff might miss on some of those "top OOS tackles" that we are "in on" and then it will be to late to get guys like a Trout or a Richardson. I think locking these 2 up will be key to keeping the top Ohio talent in-state and putting up that fence around Ohio.

Him not having an offer does seem a bit hard to understand. Pretty highly rated kid
I just posted this below, but I think that the staff is waiting on Damien Prince (#2 OT), KC McDermott (#3 OT), Jamarco Jones (#4 OT), Roderick Johnson (#9 OT), Braden Smith (#1 OG), and Mason Cole (#4 OG) before offering Trout (#12 OT) because we're only taking four or five guys in this class, and we want the best signings possible at each position.
That's not to say that Trout isn't an OSU-caliber player (he definitely is), but we have a chance at getting Prince, McDermott, and Jamarco Jones in addition to Marcelys on the offensive line for this class, which would be EASILY the best haul in the nation. Then, if the staff decides to take a fifth guy there, I think it would be Trout.
As cruel as it sounds, they don't want to settle for Trout this early in the process. Again, that doesn't mean he's a bad player. He's definitely a very, very good player, but in this class, he's not elite like those other guys.
Alex (and a lot of others) raves about Trout (and rightfully so), but as of right now, he's not on the same tier as those guys. If he has a killer showing in summer camps, he could and probably will push up onto that level, and get the OSU offer.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
This OL class is only going to be 4 or 5 players. Marcelys Jones is the best in-state offensive lineman, and the only one really worth holding a spot for IMO. Trout is close, but he's behind guys like Prince, McDermott, Jones, Brown, Knox, Johnson, and a handful of others, so why offer with a year left until NSD? Wait for some of the dominoes to fall, get some of these kids to commit early, and if things start to look bleak, you still have a great player in Trout.
With how small the class will be, and how many elite prospects we have, we're probably not going to offer any in-state linemen for a while. Same goes for the quarterbacks like Barker, Kizer, Allen, Ulmer, and Henderson.
Look at the offensive linemen we've offered, and the ones who we're high on the lists of. Right now, we already have Jones, who is a VERY good prospect at guard, but we're also in the top two as of right now for Prince (#2 OT), near/at the top for McDermott (#3 OT), and probably the number one team for Jamarco Jones (#4 OT), not to mention that we're definitely in the mix with Orlando Brown Jr. and Roderick Johnson, both of whom are also prototypical offensive tackles. And Quenton Nelson is another prospect who the staff REALLY likes. I think that if we start missing on those guys, then Trout finally gets offered, unless he REALLY impresses the staff this summer and shows that he's on the same level as those guys.
"Putting a fence up around Ohio" is kind of meaningless, IMO. Right now, the top three Ohio guys for the 2014 class are Lattimore, Booker, and Jones, and I don't think anyone would bet against us getting all three.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
I think they got Jones as a DT. Or a guard. Either way he isnt a tackle. Alot easier to get tackles then move them to guard instead of moving a guard to tackle. So id much rather go after tackles. I see Trout as a tackle and Richardson very well anywhere along the OL. I wouldnt say Jones is the best OL in Ohio IMO.

I never said that Marcelys Jones was a tackle, they probably got him as a guard. And he is undoubtedly the best guard in Ohio, and in my opinion (and many scouts), he is the best lineman in the state for this class.
As for Trout, he definitely projects as a tackle, I think he could definitely still play guard, but my post was mostly to point out the other guys we're in very good positions with. Damien Prince, KC McDermott, and Jamarco Jones are all ELITE, all have an argument for being the best tackle in this class, and each of them have us at/near the top of their respective lists. And then, at guard, there are guys like Braden Smith and Mason Cole, who are also elite at their positions.
Trust me, I do really like Trout. I bet the staff does, too. But let's just say that the staff is taking 4 or 5 linemen here. Ideally, we would get Damien Prince, KC McDermott, Jamarco Jones, Marcelys Jones, and then a guy like Braden Smith or Mason Cole. Those are the guys with priority over everyone else (Roderick Johnson is probably in that group, too), who can commit any time, and will have spots saved for them (I.E. Deshaun Watson vs. Drew Barker et al.). Trout is on the precipus of being in that group, but he's not. Yet.
I bet that he kills it this summer and gets into the class before his senior year, but right now, the staff wants the absolute best they can get.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
Yah ik. Sorry, i wasnt saying u said that, i was just pointing it out.
I knew what you are saying though.

I think he'll get one in the Spring, and if not he will have his opportunities to earn one in a camp setting.
the amount of talent in next yrs class, along with how high we are on kids next yr is why i believe tosu should bank one of their schollies from this yr. but, the staff knows what they want more than i do.
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
exactly what im thinking. Instead of taking Skipper & Hunt which both seem to me like last resorts & a reach to me.
Id rather bank this schollie for 2014 with that EPIC class coming & the OL class being amazing.
#Buckeyes
We'll have 2 extra schollies next year with Crowell and O'Connor leaving.Richardson and Trout will probably get their offers eventually.Too high on too many bigger fish right now though.
SCOTTC.
Right now we sit at 82 schollies. Counting O'Connor & Crowell in the 82 along with the 2013 commits. Now that those 2 are leaving, we are at 80. Meaning we can bring in 2 more kids for the 2013 class or bank both for 2014. Which right now, Id imagine Meyer will use both of them for his 2013 class.
making the 2013 class total 24 commits & 82 total schollies.

I would offer Kyle Trout (OT) and Nick Richardson (G) right now and accept their verbals right after Feb 6th signing day. These are high quality O-Linemen and in-state kids should get partiality when they are this good. You can still get 2 other OOS O-Linemen. Meyer and Warriner need to realize this immediately.
I siad this recently in a thread somewhere. Cant remember what thread.
but my point is the same as yours.
offer Trout & Richardson now. Land both commitments. Both are high profile OL and both are from Ohio (keeping top Ohio talent home) and landing 2 very solid OL for 2014 is a good start. Then they can focus alot on who gets those last few OL spots for 2014 from OOS like Prince, Rod Johnson, McDermott, Brown Jr, & others.
Getting 2 very solid OL from your own backyard is a great way to start IMO. Lets the staff land 2 very solid OL at a position of need. Home grown talent. & gives OSU a great start to getting a good OL class. They can put alot of focus on them last few OL spots, which i think would also give the staff an edge compared to other schools evaluating the talent they are bringing in.
#Buckeyes
Getting kids in the class early just for the sake of getting them in the class early when they're clearly in the second tier isn't a good idea. I think we should go for the best players possible, and right now there are quite a few kids on the board who are better than Trout and Richardson.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
If we do bring in some of the second tier players first it might turn off some of the upper tier players. We still have a long time until 2014 NSD.
Looks like an offer is Brewing............. hope he gets it!
