You are about to be in surprise come national signing day. They could have 4 to 5 times the five stars we have. Number one overall Nkemdiche is rumored to be headed to them.
Last report I saw a few days ago (Jan 13th or so) is that he cut them out of his top 3. But things change in recruiting so quickly, who knows. Guess we'll find out on 01/26
The thing that actually makes Quon-to-Ole Miss tolerable, is that we've all known for about two weeks or so that it wasn't happening with us. I was at one time convinced that Shane Morris had Treadwell bagged as a Michigan recruit. I think Michigan's staff wrote off Treadwell a month ago.
How are you (or UM followers) feeling about Green right now? I'm with staff in thinking Treadwell sailed a while ago, but Green has stayed steady (if quiet). I think Treadwell makes any class markedly better, but think Green is still really important and maybe moreso to Wolverine class as far as finishing.
At the Under Armour game he declared Michigan to have a slight lead, and reportedly spent most of the week with the M commits. He even forced his way into Wiltfong's picture for M commits, admitting that it might be something to read into.
That being said, things have been very quiet on the interwebz for the last week or so, but he hasn't taken visits to Auburn or Tenn (the others in his top 3) since he declared M the leader. He would be a huge part of the class, but he would be a huge part of anyone's class, so if he does decide to go south I think you could see a lot of shock/confusion/butthurt feelings from the maize and blue community
"It is a man's own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways." - Buddha
If we don't get Green, let me assure you; I will be shocked, confused and butthurt.
Actually, I should clarify; I try not to get into recruiting "prediction" games. Kids commit, or not. Everybody guesses early, and sometimes actual commitments change. And then you go out and play with whomever you've got. So I won't "predict" anything at all with Green. I can tell you that our needs at RB are acute. We don't need Derrick Green; we need two or three Derrick Greens.
It is a total flyer of a rumor, but I was actually interested in the Ty Isaac-reopening stories. I'd love to see us get both of them, although I'd be shocked by that as well.
Ole Miss has gotta be tempting for kids who want early playing time,in the south, a chance to turn that program around, and say they were apart of that.Never know what goes on in the minds of 17-18 year old football recruits.Just be glad they're not going to Bama or that team up north!!
This is why I am confused and dumbfounded! Unless they were from the state and all want to get the hometown school to national prominance, which I don't believe they are, I would understand.

Just do not think Green goes to ttun. It will be Auburn, Ole Miss or Tenn and FSU wants in on him too. Think Green sees that the other commit, Deveon Smith, is the same type of back and that will be partly why he chooses to go elsewhere. He wants to be featured.
This is what I see, too. This could possibly be the class that puts them back on the map. Never underestimate the ability for the Rebels to screw it up, though. There's almost some weird juju that bedevils Ole Miss.
Another guy in the BIG Ten conference territory going outside the confernce. Our conference other than OSU, Mich, PSU, NEB has some serious issues recruiting
Illinois as a state has some high end talent. Too bad the B1G didn't cash in on it this year (Isaac-USC, Treadwell- Ole Miss, Pocic-LSU.) The top three leave. After that there is a pretty good dropoff that picked B1G schools, but this is part of the problem with why the B1G is down. Lock up the homestate kids!
There's no coach in their state to stay and play for. Northwestern and Fitzgerald may get to that point since they are doing pretty well on the field, but their admissions standards probably don't help them much.
am i missing something here? while i would be thrilled to rub it in my friends faces who are michigan fans, i certainly don't see green picking ole miss over tsun. from everything i've read, tennessee and auburn are the two others in his final group. and barring something crazy from happening, since he's done taking visits, i think he's all blue. i hadn't heard anything about ole miss. what sucks is that michigan kinda wins by default. if dooley was still at tennessee and chizik was still at auburn, green would definitely be headed to the SEC. he seems like he's grudgingly picking tsun because his other options fell through
Interesting POV. Especially since it was greatly rumored that Green wanted to commit to Michigan way back in July during the weekend of the BBQ and OSU's FNL. Clearly, he didn't, but a couple of the Michigan recruiting "experts" (Sam Webb for sure, and IIRC TomVH) publicly stated that they were convinced Green would end up at Michigan at one point or another.
I personally don't think Chizik had that much pull. Sure he won the natty with Cam, but haven't heard too many pros about the guy. And Dooley...well, he just wasn't too great either. Not to mention the Oline haul for Michigan wouldn't seem like a default option, to me.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

Yeah - there's a lot of "He's getting paid" or "Good luck in the SEC basement," followed by arguments with the normal people about the fact that those comments are stupid.
As long as it's not tTUN...then I really don't care;-) Good luck to Mr. Treadwell though...

I love it when kid says something to the extent of, "It's a great opportunity to start right away in the SEC." Shouldn't that tell you a couple of things? A) That team is not a very good team B) They are in a conference that has powerhouses that will destroy them. Also, just because you go there doesn't mean that team is going to stop being a mediocre team at best. Ask Stefon Diggs or Dorial Green Beckham
Considering that Ole Miss still cherishes their rebel heritage (the mascot, the flag), I don't understand why any African-American kid would want to attend Ole Miss, especially a kid that grew up in Illinois. Having close relationships with a few African-American men who grew up in the deep south and listening to their recollections, it just baffles me that any young man with options (the majority of whom have a choice to go to school somewhere other than Ole Miss (or other modern day plantations such as Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Miss St, Tennessee, etc.) would make that choice.
I guess playing in the SEC is just that much of a pull to these recruits. Objectively speaking, if an African-American male is going to school for any reason other than to major in football, U-Mich is a slam dunk over U-Miss. Recruiting wins such as Treadwell to U-Miss are occurances that are killing the B1G's ability to stay relevant. It's one thing for southern kids to stay in the south, but when highly rated northern kids start migrating towards the lower level southern schools over top northern schools, it's time to be concerned.
I still don't get why Ole Miss.
If Green goes there as well, i'll know somethings up.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
they have gotten a couple surprise commitments this class. I hope it works out for him but...
How do they get a 5-star and we don't?! We actually win games, conference titles, and bowl games (not to mention a great chance at a NC).

Ole Miss is putting together a really nice class. I fully expect Nkemdiche to wind up there as well.
Exactly - if they get Green, too, I'm going to be very, very confused.
Are you talking about Derrick Green? I haven't seen anything with him and Ole Miss, just Michigan, Auburn and Tennessee.
Not here to troll...Go Blue
He really looked at Ole Miss a long time ago. For a while it was OSU, Clemson, Ole Miss.

yeah...but every school has hot chicks...Ohio State has ~57k students...lets say half of that is female?
so, its not exactly a valid argument really.
But do they have SEC speed and moxy?
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Slightly less than half. So let's say 26k girls, and there really aren't enough hot ones.
Huh. Heard the same thing about the guys.
That may very well be true, but I'm not qualified to make such judgements.
Green, Treadwell, Nkemdiche, and Lavon Hooks. They are getting some serious talent, if things fall into place for them.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
chance to start as freshman in sec is tempting. if they land green and RNK wow!!! awesome class for them

Just glad this cat didn't end up as Michigan. For the longest time, Michigan thumpers thought Treadwell and Green were both going to UM.
+1
I hope Green goes to Ole Miss with Treadwell.

3 five stars will go to the same school only to finish 4th or worse in their divsion their whole career! Sweet!

Better than scUM... Ole Miss will be competitive but not enough to beat Bama or A&M just yet. Maybe 2-3 more years.
This is what I see, too. This could possibly be the class that puts them back on the map. Never underestimate the ability for the Rebels to screw it up, though. There's almost some weird juju that bedevils Ole Miss.

Mississippi goes on Probation in 3....2....1
You realize Ole Miss is an SEC school, right? They could pay a recruit's father $160,000+ and wouldn't be going on probation anytime soon...
Wait wait wait... It was a charitable donation to his father's church. That makes it ok right?
Right.

Ole miss would be a great home and home for the bucks. Would love to see that scheduled. Heard it is a great college town on game day.
Agreed! I've heard Ole Miss is a great place to visit on gameday.

Why Ole Miss?
Yeah, I've also asked that headscratcher. Then I looked into who is on their coaching staff:
So that's 7 5-star recruits, and counting, for teams with a Kiffin coach (ironically both their teams couldn't break the 7-win ceiling). Seems legit.
There's more than one Kiffin offspring? Damnit!

I think his new family might be ole miss..and he means that he will be recruiting for them and their might be some flips. That's how I read it
