The New Freshmen

Just wondering if there are any updates on how the early enrollee's are doing so far? Anyone in particular impressing pantoni to the point where they'll see significant playing time this fall?

Saw a few pro J.T. Barrett tweets the one day

This is from when Dontre Wilson was visiting.  Barrett was showing him around, apparently.

Help is on the way.

Don't think Pantoni has anything to do with playing time

I don't think a freshman can earn playing time in January but I think he can lose it

He can lose what he never had?

Sure... lack of effort in the weight room or classroom, poor attitude, etc.  I see what you're saying in that they never truly had the playing time to begin with, but those would be great ways to never see the field.

News about early enrollees is always fun. Especially this year because if JT's recovery goes well, he could really use this year to learn behind Braxton. I know Guiton will be the backup for Brax but JT is the closest QB to what Braxton can do on this team. For him to get some possible PT early in the non-conference games would be huge!

Plus I would also like to hear if there is any of the sophomores that look different and really make a difference this year.

I also really want to see what Adolphus looks like now! That kid has the size and frame to become a monster. I mean he is already but he is still only 19-20 years old. There is still growth with that freak of an athlete!

There was an article on Tuesday over at ESPN where Austin Ward got quotes from Meyer and Barrett's high school coach. It's not paywalled, so here are the Meyer quotes.

"I'm hoping he brings a little something that our quarterback position can use, and that's a grinder, a guy that's just nonstop," Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer said. "You know, the [guys like former Utah quarterback] Alex Smith -- they wake up in the morning and they're a quarterback all day long. They go to sleep and the next day they wake up again and they're a quarterback all day long.

"He's a talented guy. He had ACL surgery, so he'll be limited as far as contact, but from everything I'm hearing he'll be able to throw and do the offseason program. Not the running part of it, but I'm not worried about him doing that part of it."
