Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets 1/21 - Donovan Munger is all Buckeye(land grant Holy land)

The weekend brought some interesting news on the recruiting front, in the form of 2013 Buckeye commit Donovan Munger taking an official visit to Florida State.
At first, the official visit to Florida State looked like a pretty big deal. '13 DL commit Donovan Munger was pretty low-key on how he handled this, not mentioning he was going until he was actually already in the Sunshine state. The good news, however, is that Munger sat down with Ohio State offensive coordinator Tom Herman and talked about the visit as well as ensuring he was still a Buckeye. Munger's response was that he was "all-Buckeye" and Ohio State had nothing to worry about. As a former Florida State commit, he probably just wanted to perform his due diligence one last time. From all accounts however, Munger remains very loyal to Ohio State.
The Buckeyes got an early offer in to '15 WR/ATH George Campbell on Sunday, giving Campbell a total of nine scholarship offers. The teams that have offered included Florida, Florida State, Michigan, N.C. State and more. The 6'5", 190-pound star is already turning heads and making a name for himself on the gridiron.
Offer #9 Ohio State #BuckeyeNation #Osu #Juice
— George Campbell Jr (@GeorgeCampbell0) January 20, 2013
In 2012, as a sophomore in high school, Campbell caught 30 passes for 766 yards with 5 touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Campbell added 57 total tackles. Check out his highlight film down below:
'13 WR James Clark has been a pretty big target for Ohio State the past week and a half or so, and as we continue getting closer to National Signing Day, the Buckeyes are still in contention. Currently, OSU ranks in Clark's top five, which consists of Florida, Clemson, Ohio State, Northwestern and Nebraska. We've heard good things coming out of the Clark camp, but I wouldn't go as far as saying that the Buckeyes are the favorites. It's been no secret that Coach Meyer has made it clear he wants Clark to be apart of the 2013 class, but we won't find out about Clark's intentions until National Signing Day.
Another 2013 recruit the Buckeyes are chasing is '13 OL Cameron Hunt. The 6'5", 275-pound behemoth has Ohio State in his top three which he lists as Cal, Ohio State and Oregon. Hunt will be visiting Cal this week and has been mentioned as saying that the Ducks and Buckeyes lead at the top for now. The Golden Bears can put themselves back into that mix after this week, which might be perfect, considering National Signing Day is only two weeks away. As of now, Hunt remains committed to Cal, but I have to say Hunt is either going to end up at Oregon or Ohio State.
Finally, '13 RB Dontre Wilson isn't the only other athlete that the Buckeyes want to get their hands on in the class of 2013. '13 WR Darren Carrington, currently an Oregon commit, is being pursued by Coach Meyer and co. following the departure of Chip Kelly. Offensive Coordinator Tom Herman will be down to visit Carrington and his family for an in-home visit.
This could be a huge momentum shifter, considering Carrington may take an official visit to Ohio State after Herman's appearance. If Herman's meeting goes well, and Carrington can make it for an official visit, I see no doubt where Carrington becomes a Buckeye in the class of 2013. The 6'3", 180-pound Carrington is the country's No. 130 overall prospect in the 247Sports rankings but has yet to receive an offer from Ohio State.
Empire Q&A: Dillon Bates (buckeye empire)
In Buckeye Empire’s latest Q&A, I spoke with the 2014 4-star, 6-3 218-pound OLB Dillon Bates out of Ponte Vedra High School (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL). Dillon is the son of former Tennessee Volunteers 4-year starter and Dallas Cowboys safety Bill Bates. According to 247sports.com, Dillon has a 91 overall rating, is ranked the 214th best overall player in the country, the 15th best outside linebacker in the country, and the 23rd best overall player in his home state of Florida. Dillon was one of the most intellectual prospects I’ve spoke with, and any college would be getting a player not only committed to working hard on the field, but also striving for perfection in the classroom. Thanks again for what you do Gene!
Will definately be interesting come signing day!! I have a feeling we may be in for a few surprises!! Hope we get Skipper over Hunt. And Timmons ,just because he really seems like he wants to be a BUCKEYE!! Carrington would be nice as well ,please :) Don't think Wilson is leaving now that they've hired OC to be head coach, just my gut.Think we strike out on twins as well.Clark-who knows, but think he is Clemsons' to lose.
SCOTTC.
I absolutely agree. I hope Timmons gets a chance to be a Buckeye. I'm rooting for him.
I asked this question over on another thread, but it might get answered quicker here on quick bits. If OSU offers Timmons will they allow him to commit without figuring out Wilson, Clark, Lauderdale, Carrington, and the Robinson twins first?
I hope so!! Name me a WR that has wanted it more?? Other than Carrington and Lauderdale, don't see us getting any of above.
SCOTTC.
Genestar, how about throwing up a video for old times sake. LOL
I think we lost Timmons by waiting so long. I hope not.
I read where he told a UK friend His visit with UK was great, But you know my preference.
??
And I think i'd be saying the same thing even if it wasn't so if I was trying to make an impression on another school
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
TIMMONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If Timmons is offered tomorrow... We will see a gray box tomorrow...
for real. I think that kid is something special, and seems like he wants to prove to people he belongs, so he is not going to accept anything other than a highlight career, If he comes on board, I am excited for this guy...
TOS reporting Urban was in DeSoto, TX today recruiting Wilson.
It will be interesting to see what happens with all of these WR's... I think we take 2 WR's if we miss on Bell. I think we also end up with Skipper. I hope Urban uses some of his magic on this one. I think:
Clark= Out
Timmons= In if he gets offered
Lauderdale= IDK
Carrington= IDK
Wilson= In
Robinson twins= Out
I want Wilson and the Robinson twins playing for the good guys DESPERATELY. Wilson is the type of athlete Chip Kelly and Oregon have made their money on the last few years (right in the DAT, Barner, James mold, with perhaps slightly less straight-line speed than DAT and James but all the agility + elusiveness). The Robinson twins have that unique combo of size (6'3"+) and athleticism that USC tends to recruit so well. Would be HUGE to get those 3.
Coach Meyer said he wanted to end the 2013 recruiting with a bang. How big a bang is anyone's guess...
Atom bomb going off. Everyone's faces are melted = Bell, Wilson, Robinson twins, Hunt/Skipper
C-4 blowing roof off Nakatomi Tower in Diehard = Wilson, Robinson twins, carrington, Hunt/Skipper
The gas station RoboCop blew up = At least one Oregon flip or Bell and any combination of Clark/Corey Smith/Timmons/Skipper/Hunt
Brady Hoke's head exploding after The Game in November = Any combination of Clark/Smith/Timmons/Skipper/Hunt and one surprise flip we've never considered on NLOID
I personally am hoping for a mushroom cloud but would still be very happy with seeing Brady Hoke's head exploding. Who wouldn't?

Waycracken's glee if we take Timmons will outshine any atomic bomb... Therefore any combination of Timmons moves to the top of the cart under supernova.
UNLEASH THE CRACKEN!!
LOL! No doubt!!! :)
Thanks Gene....I'm thinking Timmons gets what he's been waiting for tomorrow;-)

Would be pretty cool if the Timmons saga ended (or just begins?) with him becoming a buckeye
Timmons!
who is the picture of? that isn't munger
the kids are playing their tail off, and the coaches are screwing it up! - JLS
Vonn Bell I believe
Was wondering the same thing myself... Awaiting an answer as well
Darren Carrington
thank ya sir
the kids are playing their tail off, and the coaches are screwing it up! - JLS
'13 Oregon WR commit Darren Carrington
He's mentioned later in the same article.
If it means we stop talking about Timmons every day, I hope they offer Timmons.
If they offer Timmons, and he accepts, and we can discuss him for 4/5 more years....
Go Bucks!
Not until he does something to talk about, which is basically the point. Once guys sign, it gets pretty quiet until they start getting in the conversation to make an impact.
Yep, I-8 is dreaming.
It will be the tackle he almost made in the spring game on the punt team to the discussion of the 2 deep as a Junior and then why he isn't retunring punts. His dad may even get on here and tell us he isn't going to transfer
God help us all
.
"Why isn't Timmons starting, did they see his stats in hs?" "He always talks about needing a playmaker, why doesn't he put in Timmons?" "Did you guys see Timmons on the sideline?" "Do you think Timmons will start as a freshman" <- x20 "what position do you guys see Timmons playing?" "Could Timmons pass the ball to hismelf and score 5 TDs a game?" "Timmons, is he better than Ginn (before he arrives on campus.)" "Who's more electric, Ginn or Timmons?(before he arrives on campus." "Over/Under TDs for Timmons career." "Will Timmons score every time he touches the ball?"
i could keep going...
If he gets his offer, someone is going to freak out....
This is so gross!

Clifton Garrett names Ohio State leader
I think he sees that he'd better get in early with all the LBs that want in
Best news of the past week IMO!
so far my favorite news, just hope we get bell, wilson this year
Awesome to hear that Clifton Garrett has OFFICIALLY named OSU as his leader after previously hearing that at one point Michigan State led, then OSU, then ND got in the mix, then Oklahoma, then the SEC teams. I think some things are beginning to heat up with Garrett talking with his Core6 buddies about OSU. Getting him, McMillan, Booker and maybe Berger as well would be out of this world. I can't wait for the dominos to start falling on what will be an amazing 2014 class.
I think those dominos will start falling after NSD. Urban doesn't want any 2013 kids to start thinking so he's holding off on letting 2014 kids commit. We know Lonnie Johnson was going to commit and had to wait. There was speculation that Snodgrass wanted to commit too, but couldn't. The 2014 class will be nasty.
Rumor is that Snodgrass's issue is a grades issue, not the same boat as Johnson.
Key word... Rumor.
Well yeah, but in that light, basically anything said on these recruiting topics is a rumor, including the Lonnie Johnson hold off. It's not as if the reports of grades issues are baseless, they're backed by insiders at ND as well as here.
rumor is that Snodgrass tried to commit to Notre Dame as well.. Grades or no grades, I don't want him to commit until he's 100% sure.
Jalen Tabor is nooooo joke!
"I'm One Bad Buckeye, and I approve this message."
He can hit, that's for sure.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
Wow I thought for sure the Timmons ship had sailed. With all the whiffs we have had at WR we should lock up Timmons.
