Ed Warinner (and maybe Luke Fickell) will be watching 2014 OL Kyle Trout play basketball tonight. Trout is one of the best OL in Ohio for 2014 and is ranked as the #12 OT prospect in the country by 247 Sports. I really like him as a prospect and think he has a lot of room for growth and improvement when he gets to college, and that's a good thing as he has not maxed out his potential. An OSU offer is definitely a legitimate possibility.
Steve Wiltfong of 247 is also reporting that OSU will be sending coaches to 2014 QB Drew Barker's basketball game. As you know, I am a big fan of Barker's and I would have him next in line after Deshaun Watson for an offer. Right now, while he hasn't said it, I think South Carolina, who has offered, is the favorite. I do think that would change if the Bucks offered, or at the very least they'd be tied with the Gamecocks for his services.

Alex, have you heard any reason why the staff has pushed back their 2014 QB offers. I was under the impression they were going to be sent out during the season, then after the season, and now we are moving to winter/spring. My only guess is they want to show Watson they really like him but I can't think of any other reason not to offer Barker.
I was thinking the same thing... I don't want to miss on a Tier 1 QB in case JT's knee gives him problems. I'm hoping and praying the knee is fine and he's the next stud QB at OSU, but we have to have someone to back him up. I believe the talent falls off after Watson and Barker.
Do you think the February visit from the GA boys will give the staff a better indication of where they stand with Watson and what they will need to do with the other QB's?
Well Cardale is a freshman this year, so if he turns out to be a good QB then we may not need to worry about Barrett as much.
I understand that... But it's like Alex explained about the linemen a few days ago. They don't all pan out. One of the 11W staff members was saying it's good to recruit a good QB every year. We need 4 scholarship QB's on the roster each year from what I understand.
they don't have room for 2 QBs at this point so they don't want to make an offer to someone like Barker and then not be able to take his commitment...Watson is their clear #1 and they at least want to see how much of a shot they have before they move on...I think they have a good shot and we will find out more when he visits Feb 8-10
I understand the staff is waiting on Watson, but I'd say they'll have to make a decision by summer at least. After the February weekend they will know where they stand with Watson. I'm pretty sure I saw a tweet from Watson indicating that he would enroll early. I don't see the staff waiting all the way til December to make a decision, but I could be wrong.
Barker is on record as saying he is very interested in UK with their new offensive scheme. They should be alot of fun to watch in the near future as well with the coaching staff they assembled.
I've been saying Timmons, Gibson, and Barker need to hook up at UK if they didn't get to OSU.
I'm not saying he won't go there, but he'll have far better offers than UK when all is said and done. I can't imagine he'd be content going there when teams that have a real shot to win titles will want him too. I don't think he's like Tim Couch who was just a diehard UK fan. Although I don't know why any good QB would want to play for Spurrier either. He jerks them around and plays so many headgames.
Maybe these guys just like to watch basketball.

Yea Falcon football will be better with Tim Bahan back as coach when I played we had Tom mccurdy he was a good coach but I always felt the assiant coaches ran the team not him

Before he left Fairfield union he ha back to back playoffs 2 division champs when he took the pick north job.. He's a great coach he just had a hard battle cause the kids had this give up and quit there's always next week and he's changing that back to where he was before he left I'm glad to have him back as the falcons head coach
I actually went down there for work and a frat buddy lived in Lancaster in my pre-marriage days. I lived there for two and a half years and then moved to Columbus for one and a half. I'm actually from Bellville Ohio and went to Clear Fork grad of '95 (small DIV school south of Mansfield). I live in Ashland now with my 5 kids...yes I said it, 5 kids and my lovely wife. I'd post a photo but she might get a bit mad. And like many have said on here before....oh yes indeed...she's way hotter than me (I got way lucky). Most ppl when I show them a picture say she looks exactly like Sandra Bullock. I said the same thing when I first met her. Thankfully she didn't take any offense to it. Sort of like being compared to a less attractive version of her or whatever some girls would conjure up. She's the most down to earth girl I've ever met...hence why I asked her to marry me;-) Sorry this was such a long post....bored with no football on TV today....

I'm sure that Urban and Co. will have a better understanding of the QB situation once Watson visits in February. If he has a great visit and possibly reopens his recruitment, then I think they'll go all out for him. If Watson doesn't waver and stays solid to Clemson, then I think Barker will get an offer.
Sounds like Meyer will be in Tennessee to check on Jalen Hurd today as well. Hope he is feeling better after not being able to make it down to Houston yesterday.
