Lattimore form the 2014 class would commit today if his coach would let him. Word is, Coach Ginn wants him to wait a little longer. It's not clear to me why Marcelys Jones was allowed to pull the trigger, but Lattimore has to wait.
Could be, but a few weeks ago he tweeted to someone that "coach" wanted him to wait. I'm too lazy to go search back through his Twitter feed to find the specific tweet, though :-P
Maybe Urban and Ginn had a deal with Marcelys so he could help OSU get more offensive linemen in the 2014 class knowing that Marshon and Erick Smith would still bring in the scouts for the rest of the juniors and seniors
My opinion is that Jones wanted to secure his place in the class, as he would be much more likely to be passed over for someone else than Lattimore or other high-level recruits.
OSU is going after a ton of OL (I realize Jones could end up at DL, but it still applies). This may be one of those times where OSU tells the recruits that the first hand-full to commit will get spots, rather than wait on the commitments from certain players before doling out commitable offers to others.
I'm going to go with Timmons...staff making an in-home today or sometime this week I believe per another recent thread. I believe they will offer, I believe he would accept.
Based on our recent whiffs at WR, I would agree with this. I think that the key will be whether or not Smith's transfer credits actually translate into the credits he needs at OSU. If they don't, Timmons will get his offer and commit.
I think Timmons would commit if offered, but I also think the staff is waiting on Wilson first. I don't believe we have room for Timmons, Wilson, Elder, Clark, and the Robinson twins.
I just looked at Rivals offer sheet and it was updated to include Florida but it still lacks the schools that have offered him. They do not show WVU, Missouri, Mississippi State Cincinnati and California plus a few others.
My gut tells me that staff knows he most likely will not commit until Feb 6 unless they offer him. In that case I think its 50/50 he would want to commit. UK has made him feel good, but he feels he can compete at the highest level so UF is now a serious contender especially with relationship he built with Joker before.
With that said I do not think he gets an offer yet until tOSU finds out their chances with others that are more highly rated at WR. As everyone knows Timmons is a slot type guy/playmaker (Marshall probably fills that role well) and OSU needs a traditional WR.
My gut has tricked me a few times. I think things are happening that is kept a good secret in this case.
Derek just tweeted he heard the staff really wants Skipper. I'd say they prob make a hard push for him and if they don't land him they'll use the scholly on another WR.
Its looking like this class could finish:
Skipper
Wilson
Bell
If we don't land Bell, I think the scholly goes to Timmons.
Supposedly Oregon is considering taking two of Wilsons friends in order to keep him in their class. Something happening we'd apparently. See if he still visits OSU or not
I think Joker Phillips is the guy that convinced UF... I would gladly welcome Timmons to the scarlet and gray family... If Clark goes to Clemson, best of luck to him.
I continue to say that the 2014 class is Urban's first true class. I've read that it takes 2 years to build relationships with recruits. The 2014 class is the 2 year class. We will have Lonnie Johnson (6-3) coming in along with Snodgrass (6-1), Autry (6-0), and possibly Kitt (6-1). There is some size in that class at WR. Is there a Julio Jones or Roddy White type WR? Probably not... But OSU's offense really doesn't need a guy like that. We have to remember we still have Michael Thomas (6-2) too.
If OSU wants to take another slot/RB/hybrid type guy in Timmons, I'm completely fine with that. I continue to trust the staff and look forward to sitting in my man cave and watch football on Saturday's.
Seems like we could pick alot of different ppl, but i have a feeling its gona be an offensive playmaker. Either things will work out for Smith and he will be first, or Dontre Wilson flips. I wouldnt be suprised to see both happen shortly.
With Tressel, we never had a handful of options how to finish out class. But with Meyer, the last few months before NSD is so exciting due to Meyer having 2 or 3 handfuls of options.
We still are targeting Bell, Skipper, Hunt, Wilson, Smith, Robinson twins, Clark, Elder, And now it seems Timmons is back, and Carrington will be looked at. Thats just 11 guys off the top of my head. Im sure a few others are being evaluated by the staff and are being heavily recruited/shown interest. Tressel always had a suprise, but i wouldnt doubt Meyer has some tricks up his sleave.
Just by the way Meyer finished off the 2012 class was insane. Ppl knew he would do good, but nobody knew he would come in and do what he did. Land Perkins, Williams, Reeves, Spence, Marcus and flip Schutt, Dodson, Decker, Pittman, O'Conner and also contain Dunn. Meyer did it in a couple months, when it take mostly all season to land a class like that. Meyer pulled something that most ppl have never seen before.
Meyer is doing a great job recruiting, but some ppl have crazy expectations becuz of what Meyer did last year in a few months. What he did last year was just something special, so id never expect something like that again (atleast not in a few months), so some ppl need to lower those expectations. Cuz ive seen several ppl saying that this class was a bust. I dont believe that at all, hes got a top 3 class, some great playmakers and some new building blocks for "his team" and exactly how he wants it. Those rankings r nice but not always great and stuff. Meyer is doing a great job.
I think you're talking about Darren Carrington, BIS. Herman went to see Carrington, Lauderdale was on campus this weekend. This WR recruiting class is sure starting to get convoluted LOL. They are REALLY not leaving any stone unturned haha.
I haven't heard anything about how Lauderdale's visit went though, was curious about that myself.
Who knows....an Olineman, WR or WRs and an ATH/Safety but I couldn't tell you who for sure. I doubt anyone could tell for sure at this point...

I wish we could take both Hunt & Skipper...afraid Skipper may be more of a high risk/high reward project with that height. But, I trust the staff either way they go.
Our best chances would be to snag Skipper on his OV or one of the Oregon comitts on their OV. But you never know with UFM! Go Bucks!

Perhaps Lattimore himself wants to wait?

This makes the most sense.
Jones was not on D-1 radar until recently

think there will be a commitment before feb 6th.
Guess for those questioning Timmons offer sheet now have to look again.

Waycraken. What's your gut tell you about this in home visit?
Capn, Make It So...

I'm going Cameron Hunt. Just have a gut feeling he's going to be in this class.
It's looking like Skipper is more of a chance than Hunt. Apparently the battle is between us and Ark for Skipper.
If this is the case, I really want Skipper (if for no other reason than annoying BB).

I'm not completely set on having to land Wilson. I just want 1 of Wilson, Clark, Timmons, Smith. I think we need 1 more skill guy in this class.
Fla is convinced I believe Clark is going to Clemson

What about Devin Lauderdale? Any word on what happened with him in town?
I think Herman was flying out to meet with him yesterday. Other than that I haven't heard anything on him.

Good looking out right there. 16 more days and we will know how this class is going to finish out. I'm ready for NSD!
