This just released, effective August 1. No word on mini-basketball use in the offseason, however.

I missed the asterisk that said none of these rules apply to the SEC if it interferes with Alabama or LSU winning the NC - can you point it out?
Unlimited texting does no good for anyone. Coaches will never be able to unplug and relax. Recruits will never get a moment's peace.
Any new rule that reasonably loosens presents restrictions levels the landscape by not rewarding those who freely operate in greay areas or even break hard-to-enforce rules.
Ooh, presents!
Dang it.
Is the SEC still allowed to sign a 5th recruiting class over every 4 year period?
I'm not sure how loosening restrictions on the amount grown men can text 16-17 year old kids is ever a good thing. Then again, I suppose some of that is on the parents, nor am I sure that coaches weren't just finding other ways around it--but I don't see increased contact (and so increased distraction on 17 years olds who are trying to finish high school) as a positive change.
