Interesting. Seems like it might be a step down for him. He'd likely have his pick of any top-tier college position, and likely the higher salary it would command, at the time of his choosing.

Step down? Definitely not from being Bama's DC. If you mean it's a step down from the fact that he could get a BCS job, sure, but he doesn't currently have a BCS job. And he doesn't seem to be likely to get one this year.
It also depends on what his goals are. Does he have more NFL goals than CFB goals? Because one good year at the eagles and, with his reputation, he'll start getting NFL HC looks. It's certainly a step up if that's the road he's looking to take.
Your points are certainly valid, and perhaps I should not take it as a given that he could have virtually any college job in the country next year after another strong Alabama season. My thinking was that Philly is far from guaranteed from having success in the short term, and it's possible he may not find himself in as lucrative position post-Philly. But yes, I agree that Philly dc> bama dc.

As much as I would love if Kirby Smart leaving meant Bell would come to OSU, I'm not sure him leaving will mean anything to Bell going to Bama or not. I haven't heard Bell mention Smart, only Saban and how Saban will be coaching his position.
Ok, that's freaking hilarious. Kudos to you for your sharp wit, and for having the moxie to be graphically represented by a dancing 1990s video game character (that I totally played 75% of the time I fired up Mortal Kombat on the SNES).

This would be great. I must admit, though, I was looking forward to beating Alabama while they're at their best. No excuses about them not being as good without Kirby around... we're just better. But I'll take it

yeah, but doesn't Saban work with the DB's himself?
Ugghh, details. F@#$ Saban. :)

Is that really true? Don't they have a DB coach (Pruitt)?
Pruitt left for FSU
He does, and I'm fairly sure that Lance Thompson was Bell's recruiter.
This is more likely to affect, if anything, their luck with some of the big names left on the board like Dee Liner and Reuben Foster.
That would be a big loss for Bama. He's a great coach to have on a staff. Won't be easy to replace.
Please go Kirby! Please go!

Well, we all have to have goals in life... at least I think so...
Damn. Now I have to get some goals.
This might help:
That was pretty sweet Dano...
