Hoping with Chip Kelly to the Eagles Urban can go lock him up. He would be perfect for our offense. Could you imagine Wilson as the Percy Harvin role, Zeke at RB, and Marshall out at WR

I think we have a very legitimate shot to flip him. Also, word is we are the only other team he is looking at.
Hmmm...which Dontre Wilson thread should I go to?

^^^ check em all out..
Imagine the speed we will be bringing into the B1G if we get Dontre Wilson... Insane. Good lucking stopping us.
The Li'l 11 couldn't stop us last year .The State Up North State was the only one that came close, the rest just tried to score with us and all failed.GO BUCKS!
I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then.
Apparently you did not watch the Indiana, Purdue, MSU, or Wisconsin games.
I was at the IU game... If we had lost, I would've went crazy. The IU fans were so obnoxious. I had a guy start cussing me as I walked down the row to find my seat. Needless to say he left at halftime because we were beating them, but it would've been bad if he stayed.
I am still fuming over the officiating near the end of that game.
Bottom 5
It's amazing how subjective the official review calls are getting. In the Indiana game at least 2 calls that went in favor of indiana clearly were wrong and yet were not overturned or were overturned when they shouldn't have been. Why is it that the ncaa/nfl adopt the idea like the nhl where there is a command center with the heads of officiating that make all the calls?
They should eliminate replay altogether.
If they retain it, there should be 1 challenge per team. If the call takes more than 30 seconds to review, then, ipso facto, it is not irrefutable evidence and the timeout should be charged.
TV timeouts should be queued up to run during challenges and injuries and should be subtracted from the normally scheduled timeouts.
I'm sorry to tell you Mr. Sabin, it's not Oregon that is ruining college football, it's all the nonsense that slows Oregon down that is ruining college football
Was there too... The fans actually cheered loudest when the basketball team was introduced (3rd quarter I think) and seemingly left. Need to get their priorities in line if they're going to the be the dark horse next year.
Nothing like dancing on the field in 02...
Or parts of the UCF, Cal & UAB games.
Give me 10 WR's at 6ft tall who can all run 4.4's.... SPEED KILLS!
I'd take the Robinson twins at WR too tho!
speed kills, yes, still dont know why this kid i know cancelled his visit, oh never mind. forget it. get me dontre wilson and i will be happy, or quick, oops he isnt coming here, well gibson, oops guess that may not happen, ok ok, smith? oh well. get me any fast kid with good grades, good hands, good character, and is as humble of a person as you will ever find.
You need to chill with all of that. Everyone knows you're talking about Timmons, but the ship has sailed. I would like to see him as a Buckeye, but it isn't going to happen.
Man, I come here for discussion, opinions and thoughts about the Buckeyes. I really dislike the posts that tell another to stop expressing their Commenting Policy Friendly thoughts.
BuckeyeStu I hear what your saying. Sometimes we don't notice our nose in our vision, because it's too close to our eyes.
There's a difference between discussions/opinions/thoughts and whining/complaining...
Above ^^^ What the hell did BuckeyeStu do that was so wrong?

living in the united states of america, i need to chill with my right to free speech, now isnt that rich? telling a veteran that, wow. i suppose next i will be told to give up my lonely coon hunting rifle?
I'm not talking about your free speech... I'm talking about the whining and complaining you've done about Timmons since the weekend. Just let it go... I want Barker in the 2014 class and if he doesn't get offered then it is what it is. You going to talk about Timmons for the next 4 years?
Barker won't get an offer until the Watson situation is figured out. I hope you don't campaign on here for Barker...because then you'd be doing the same thing you're complaining about with this other dude doing for Timmons. Just saying...

There is a difference between campaigning and whining about a recruit not getting an offer. I have no problem with campaining. Read some of the posts above and you will understand where I am getting complaining from.
I would actually love to see Barker get an offer as well. There's no harm in compaigning for a player, it's when you continue to campaign after the ship has sailed that gets old in my mind. I wanted to see Timmons get that offer because I believe he'll be a great college player, but he didn't and he's not going to.
That's the point I'm trying to get across. Timmons didn't get his offer and we all say that we "trust in Urban" so why not trust him on this issue. If Barker doesn't get an offer then I will just have to deal with it... I'm not going to continue to go on about a kid who wants to be a Buckeye and who does this and that if the staff moves on.
I actually think the staff believes if they miss on these other kids they can go to Timmons right before NSD and get him...
Good post, but I don't like "trust Urban" as the be-all answer. Taken much further and there would be no point to this forum.
How many of us have dreamt to be a Buckeye? I would bet that just about every single person who is an Ohio State fan on this site! Just think about it, being the quarterback who takes the team down the field for that last second pass to save the game against that evil team up north! Or making a cross over dribble against Indiana's best point gaurd to make the shot that sends the game into overtime. Then being so fast that no one for the Hoosiers can gaurd you. To be the best on the court and win the game for the Buckeyes. How many kids have had a dream to put on the Scarlet and Gray? How many folks have had that chance and here it is a kid who wants to be a Buckeye! Who can blame anyone for finding fault with someone who just wants those same things for a kid? If I knew a kid who had a chance to make those dreams come true, I'd root for him to get a scholarship too!
Timmons didn't get an offer...yes. They're many players that get offers but are they committable (Elder...some would may be say even Gibson...who knows for sure)? But one thing you said over shadows all the negative mumbo-jumbo was to trust in Urban and Co. However all that about the difference between getting an offer or not isn't much different really. Not to mention you can still like that player (eg Timmons or Barker) without being told to shut up or move on bc one has an offer and one may not. That may be more my point about campaigning...bc that would be the same as whining to be quite honest.
Edit: Guess what....TImmons got an offer! :-)<this is me right now!

buckeye in sec: you are on this message board complaining and whining about someone else who is supposedly complaining and whining. that's hypocrisy at its finest!
Shut up about Timmons. I am sorry, but he isn't coming to Ohio State
Wow...I've seen some actually use humor (even though most of it get's misunderstood) and get down voted but some of this is just down right negative. It's not about who's right or wrong....it's about how everyone's opinion can or should be able to be expressed freely. Not to mention how we can interact or have a difference of opinion together with out getting upset over it. I personally think too many are sensitive these days....it's a shame because we should all just chill as some one stated above.

Why does he need to eat crow? Did Timmons commit and I didn't see it?
I know you meant "(ra)coon", but perhaps your choice of words is why you got downvoted....especially since it was followed by "hunting rifle".
All levity aside, thank you very much for your service in the military.

" According to his head coach Claude Mathis, the four-star back will take visits to other programs while remaining a soft commitment to the Ducks.
Mathis told Rivals.com that he expected Wilson to visit Ohio State this coming weekend and may also be considering Notre Dame and Clemson for future visits."
http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1456047
If he visits this weekend, I think he leaves a Buckeye.
He's said before that it's Oregon or Ohio State.
I agree, given that there's only a few weeks until signing day and he's said Oregon and OSU all along, I don't see ND or Clemson as a legitimate threat. Especially ND as 1) they don't run the spread that he's got the perfect skillset for, and 2) they already have a 5-star running back in the 2013 class. Clemson is a little more comparable to Oregon and OSU, but being that UO and OSU have been the two dogs in the race to this point, you have to think it'll come down to those two given that he only has a few weeks until NSD to decide.
I like OSU's chances, especially if he DOES visit, and Oregon takes a few weeks to decide on whether they want to promote Helfrich or go another way. If Helfrich gets promoted within the next week or so, though, I think their chances to keep him go up significantly. Just my uninformed 2 cents though.
EDIT: USA Today just reported that they think the Helfrich promotion is just a matter of time/has already been decided. I think more coaching indecision would have helped us here, but we'll see.
Imagining Wilson and the Robinson twins coming to TOSU has my heart racing! Go get em Urbz!
They know the real OSU isn't in Oregon
at buckeye12 and buckeyeinsec ; wow 12 downvotes, wow, childish isnt it? glad i grew up and i am an adult. and yes i am talking about the right to free speech so get over it yourself.
Sending you a couple upvotes your way to help. I am sure it doesn't matter, it's the principle that is the issue.
FYI - they can only give you 1 downvote each. Not sure why you called them out when you now have 15 downvotes.
Thank you for pointing that out.
thank you lou
Just a heads up man, there's no such thing as free speech on the internet. There are commenting policies and rules. When you sign up, you relinquish the right to unlimited free speech. Don't be upset over pixels.
It's a common misconception to assume that free speech applies to everything. That idea is a misrepresentation of the constitution
We can all be considerate of each other's posts. Nobody is ever going to be right or wrong with wondering where a 17 or 18 year old may attend college.
Also, Ohio State isn't going to get everyone they want either. That's just how it goes. There's nearly 100 offers out already for 2014 prospects. Can't take them all. There will be misses.
Now, there is a Wilson forum post I have created where I talked to his coach to get the latest. Get the up to date info on him from there.
Thanks, all.
Times like these where I wish I could upvote you
We'll, technically you can't... unless you are Texas A&M and just joined the SEC ;)
Thanks Derek...great points...even OSU can't get em all.

Have to wonder if Urban will stop by to see Wilson while he is in Texas for the presentation of the Bear Bryant award? Has anyone on staff heard about this as a possibility?
Official visit set on the 25th!!!! I'm liking the looks of this one
Glad he scheduled an official!
Anyone know what the plan is for Dontre Wilson? What are we recruiting him for? WR? RB? H-back? Slot? I ask because... as astutely pointed out in this comment >> http://www.elevenwarriors.com/2012/04/catching-up-with-ezekiel-elliott-c... << Ezekiel Elliott was told that he was the staff's only plans for an RB. Now, I know that doesn't necessarily mean the staff "promised" he'd be the only RB, and I know plans can "change" (perhaps at the time, the staff didn't feel they were, in fact, going to bring anyone else in; but then Dontre Wilson opened up and they saw a potential filler for a need).
Just curious.
I've heard speculation that Wilson would play in the slot with Zeke being more of a true RB.
Slot back for Dontre. RB/WR both in his future I would think. Ezekiel and Dontre will have different roles.
And yes, I confirmed Dontre to take official visit to Ohio State Jan. 25.
Per Dave Biddle: "New Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich and the entire Oregon coaching staff flew to Dallas today to meet with Dontre Wilson."
Yikes.
Is this some kind of new trend where an entire coaching staff descends on a recruit for a visit? That's just ridiculous. Too much.
Tennessee's whole staff drops in on Vonn Bell and now Oregon's whole staff for Dontre Wilson.
The whole thing is out-of-control and I'd feel the same way if Ohio State does it too. O-V-E-R-K-I-L-L
Maybe the NCAA should pass a rule limiting visit numbers to one coach or rep per visit? Something. Am I the only one?
NCAA restrictions on recruiting are sadly trending towards fewer, not more.
Can't read the write-up of Oregons' visit from the 247 Ducks site, but sounds like it went well from the comments.
He doesn't look super excited here, but could just be his typical demeanor, I have no idea.
And then there's this:
Here's the Tweet you mentioned:
And this follow up, which makes two important points:
Thanks Andy. Just figured out how to embed right after your post. And also just saw those follow up tweets. Alex, have you heard anything about what "went bad?"
After I saw your initial post I went to fetch the Tweets - glad you figured out how to feed the embed gremlins - ain't technology fun? :)
Yeah, I was glad I was able to figure it out! :)
I love on the Oregon 247 forum that their fans are saying he's making a huge life-altering mistake if he chooses OSU over Oregon, because according to them Oregon can produce NFL draft RBs and Meyer can't.
Especially because:
1) Kelly can produce 1 (maybe 2 with Barner) draft-quality RBs, we know nothing about Helfrich's ability to produce them (OC or not, Kelly ran that offense not Helfrich).
2) Meyer just put Rainey into the NFL
3) Meyer isn't even recruiting Wilson as a pure RB, he's likely to be a Slot WR who gets a running play here or there at OSU--a spot Harvin got drafted in the 1st round out of.
Don't forget LeGarrette Blount. Not that he would or should be a point when it comes to recruiting, but he is a RB that Kelly put into the NFL, nonethless.
Nice sucker punch versus Boise
Blount was a senior when he was suspended for most of the season because of this punch in what was Kelly's first year. Not sure I would give him credit for that one, unless you want to count his Rose Bowl appearance in which our Bucks steamrolled..
“Right now, Michigan is not at the pinnacle of college football, and that’s all Urban Meyer cares about...He’s been there and knows what it takes to get there.”
What is meant by the visit didn't go well? Did Urban not tell him what he wanted to hear?
I am curious as well.
Considering Oregon sent an "army" of coaches after Wilson I'm seeming to think their fanbase is just making up a bunch of BS to confuse us because they're in panic mode. They know Meyer's track record of flipping people and Duck Nation is scared. How the hell would any of them know things didnt go well? I cannot imagine any recruit meeting Urban Meyer and not at least having a great conversation with him, even if no offer is even extended.

until i hear it out of Dontre's mouth. The visit went great.
Still no clarification as to why the visit didn't go well. Is that speculation? Any sources? Can anyone elaborate? I feel like if it were actually true we would have seen a tweet or a link backing it up, so I'm with OHIHYO it had to have gone pretty well.

Kind of interesting....may know by Sunday.
Sounds like OSU. He's already committed to Oregon.
Or his dad just wants to draw it out.

How many days until NSD? 13?

Hope the visit is going well, I'm sure Wilson and Clark are just loving this weather!! But who knows, maybe they've never seen snow and think its great?
QuadrupleZ
Whether it's tOSU or Oregon for Wilson, it isn't like the weather is vastly different. It will still get cold during the Winter.
That and didn't Texas get a bunch of snow like 3 weeks ago???? I know Desoto is nice and warm today, but they are near Dallas, and get a dose of winter at least once every year.
We had snow early last week and snow on Christmas. This week has been in the 60's mostly. Yesterday was 75.
yeah I saw that when I was looking, I thought I heard of snow. I know at the begining of the month they had snow as far down as Juarez and El Paso.
Whether Ohio weather is BETTER than Eugene is a matter of taste, but the weather is vastly different, pal.
