Depending on your perspective, the Browns being in contract (extension) talks with former Ohio State signal caller Terrelle Pryor can be viewed as a positive thing since he's a former Buckeye finally making it on Sundays or it could be the kiss of death because... well , it's the Browns people?!

The Cleveland Browns have begun "very preliminary" contract extension discussions with wide receiver Terrelle Pryor according to ESPN. Pryor signed a one-year deal worth $1.671 million with the Browns in March. The Ohio State product is in the first full year of his transition from quarterback to wide receiver. The 27-year old has 33 receptions for 413 yards and three touchdowns this season.

Personally, I'm thrilled that one tOSU's own has weathered the storm and may have finally found a home. It's simply a bonus that it happens to be a team from The Buckeye State!!

Oakland Raiders

It's been a long journey for Pryor, to say the least. After leaving tOSU after three years due to some issues with tOSU and the NCAA, he was selected in the third round of the 2011 Supplemental Draft.Three days later, Pryor and the Raiders agreed to a 4-year contract. Pryor served an NFL-mandated 5-game suspension at the beginning of the 2011 NFL season (the suspension being from the Ohio State scandal), but was still able to work out with the club. Pryor was reinstated the day following the team's win over the Houston Texans. Pryor's time in Oakland was a mixed bag of good and bad but it wasn't meant to be for him in Oakland.

Seattle Seahawks

On April 21, 2014, Pryor was traded to the Seattle Seahawks for a seventh round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. He played in the preseason, but was released during the final roster cuts on August 29. After his release from the Seahawks, Pryor worked out for the Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, and Washington Redskins, but did not sign a contract with any team.

Kansas City Chiefs

On January 7, 2015, Pryor signed a one-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs. On May 5, 2015, Pryor was released.

Pryor's next two stops saw him return to The Buckeye State but neither seemed to end the way we might have hoped they would but things are not always what they seem to be.

Cincinnati Bengals

On May 10, 2015, Pryor signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. He was released on June 18, 2015.

The day after being cut by the Bengals, Pryor announced through his agent that he was open to switching his position to wide receiver.

Pryor's second stop in Ohio landed him in Cleveland...

Cleveland Browns

On June 22, 2015, Pryor was claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Browns. On September 5, 2015, it was announced that Pryor had made the final 53-man squad for the Browns. On September 10, 2015, he was waived from the Browns. On December 2, 2015, he was re-signed after a season-ending injury to Josh McCown. He played in the last game of the season against the Pittsburgh Steelers as a wide receiver, having a single reception for 42 yards.

The Browns placed a $1.671 million tender on Pryor on March 7, 2016.

At the start of the 2016 NFL season, following a great off season, Pryor earned the starting job at wide receiver for the Browns. With Brown's quarterbacks Robert Griffin III and Josh McCown inactive during a week 3 contest against the Miami Dolphins, Pryor started as a receiver and took a few snaps at quarterback behind rookie Cody Kessler. He also had one play at safety at the end of the second half. Along with his 144 receiving yards, Pryor finished the loss with 3 completions for 35 yards, 21 rushing yards and and scored his first rushing touchdown as a Brown. He was the first player in the NFL to have at least 120 receiving yards, 30 passing yards, and 20 rushing yards in a game since Frank Gifford in 1959.

On October 2, 2016, Pryor caught his first career touchdown on a 9-yard pass from Cody Kessler. He finished the loss to the Redskins with 5 receptions for 46 receiving yards and one touchdown. In a Week 6 matchup against the Tennessee Titans, he would finish the game with a total of 9 receptions for 75 yards and 2 touchdowns

All of that leads us to where we are today. It sounds like the Browns recognize the value that Pryor brings to the franchise and have at least initiated talks to extend his current one year deal. All of which is a great start, especially considering the financial state of the Cleveland Browns at the moment. Where he fits in the mix at QB/WR remains to be seen though as the Browns do have themselves a pretty sizable collection of pass catchers.

Cleveland has wide receivers Andrew Hawkins, Corey Coleman, Ricardo Louis, Jordan Payton, Rashard Higgins,Dennis Parks and Rannell Hall signed for next season. The team also has the second-most cap space in the NFL next season with over $57.5 million.

Here's to hoping Terrelle finds himself a more permanent home with the Browns and gets paid what we thought he was worth all along.
