According to this article on ESPN, which references a pay-walled Baseball Prospectus piece, the Indians, without Francisco Lindor in the lineup, rank 28th in defensive efficiency; with him in the lineup, they rank 1st.
To be honest, Jose Ramirez hadn't looked terrible at SS, but "the numbers is the numbers."
If you click through to the Baseball Prospectus article, you'll see the following, rather uncomplimentary observations about the Indians' defense:
An abbreviated timeline of the Indians' defensive season:
In April, Jonah Keri wrote, "Given Cleveland's severe defensive limitations, those strikeouts pretty much have to be the key to any serious 2015 success."
In May, Cliff Corcoran asked, "Are the 2015 Indians the worst-fielding team in modern major league history?"
(Try not to focus on Lindor's OPS+ of 57. But you might legitimately ask if he should be batting second in the lineup.)
