Figured I'd post this here since nobody else has.
CBJ traded Marko Dano, Artem Anisimov, Jeremy Morin, Corey Tropp and a 4th to CHI for LW Brandon Saad, RHD Michael Paliotta and C Alex Broadhurst today. Huge blockbuster.
Long story short, this is a fantastic trade for the Jackets, who gave up a good, undersized prospect (Dano), an oft-injured center on the last year of his contract (Anisimov) and some bottom-line forwards (Tropp & Morin) for one of the game's young superstars (Saad) and a very good shutdown defense prospect (Paliotta).
Plus, according to Aaron Portzline, this trade clears some roster (and potentially cap) space to bring back Mark Letestu, and Jarmo managed to keep the organizational depth intact.
Potential forward lines next year?
Saad - Johansen - Jenner
Foligno - Dubinsky - Atkinson
Hartnell - Wennberg - Rychel/Bjorkstrand/Milano
Calvert - Letestu - Clarkson
That's easily the most potent the CBJ offense has ever looked on paper. The defense isn't too shabby either (lots of young options and tradeable assets in case they need another top-4 guy) and Bobrovsky is elite. This could be the 3 or 4 seed out of the East next year.
