The Count, a Wall Street Journal blog, commissioned automated-proofreading company Grammarly to evaluate baseball fans based on their grammar. The company reviewed 150 reader comments from the news section of each team's website and the Mets came away the losers, making 13.9 mistakes per 100 words. The fewest mistakes: Indians fans. They made a tidy 3.6 mistakes per 100 words.
Ohio in general didn't do too shabby. Reds fans clocked in at 5.8 mistakes per 100 words, the 22nd fewest errors. The city of Chicago comes off sparkling, too, thanks to Cubs fans (5.2 errors) and White Sox fans (4.8 errors) paying particular attention to the finer points of their missives.
