As Opening Day is...11 days away, I'd like to honor "The National Pastime" by - and, likely, redundantly - dubbing it, the "funniest" and "quirkiest" sport.
And it has given us - perhaps - the greatest collection of characters, in the history of sport. You see some of these guys on the diamond and you think, "Only in baseball."
One of my favorite books is the very funny and informative, "The Great American Baseball Card Flipping, Trading and Bubble Gum Book"
I must have read and re-read this book about once a week, in the summer of 1975.
Why? It introduced me to the fact that baseball history is full of guys with funny names.
Look, I thought I heard them all...
And I am laughing my ass off as I write this: Fellow readers, is the following NOT the funniest baseball player's name EVER?

I started crying I was laughing so hard when I read his wife's name. What a find.
I'd love to hear an authentic recording of an in-game PA announcement of this player's name, as he walks to the plate.
Its almost 3am, I am at work and my eyes feel like they are gonna bleed. Then I read his name! LOL! This woke me up with laughter! Thank you for sharing and great find!
Haha I love that he was actually born with a worse last name Dicksus.
Dick Trickle says 'Hello'.

Bonus because the first result in YouTube search was the one where he was smoking during what I would assume to be a yellow flag.
Awesome!!
