Best Game you have attended OTHER than Football.

Just thought I'd throw this one out there...For me it's a tie between the '91 Indiana 2OT basketball game, and the 2004 CCHA hockey championship game against Michigan.  I have been very lucky in my life that my Dad has been a season ticket holder for football and basketball since his years at OSU in the mid 1960's so I've been lucky enough to have been at alot of games, big and otherwise.  21 years later I can still hear in my head how loud St. John Arena was that day, the atmosphere in that building will never be matched, and it makes me sick to my stomach that tearing it down will happen sooner than later.

The 2004 CCHA Championship game is up there because not only is it the only time in my life that the Bucks have won the thing, but for anyone who has been to Michigan Stadium for a football win knows what its like to be up there and get a victory.  The Buckeyes were playing their 3rd game in 3 days and for the first 2 perioids dominated the game.  The third period was a different story as you could literally see them run out of gas and UM made a serious charge. An empty net goal sealed the deal and small OSU contingent watched the Bucks skate the Mason Cup and raise the Ohio State banner that hung in Joe Louis Arena in Detroit for the entire year.  Then as the team and some fans made way back to the hotel bar, Rick James (who was playing a show in Detroit the same weekend) shows up and joins the celebration, ending with a toast of "Ohio State! and Im Rick James bitch!" as this was right after the famous Chapelle Show sketch. Click on the link below and in the bottom row of pictures there is the shot of the Superfreak himself celebrating with the team.  http://www.scottolmsteadphotography.com/Ohio-State-Buckeyes/Ohio-State-Hockey/2003-2004-Ohio-State-Hockey/13146237_GwGQV9#!i=1435825948&k=chR3jms&lb=1&s=A

Those are my 2 non football moments, what are yours?

Every single game that my kids have played in, win or lose.  For those of you who are young and just starting out, cherish those moments, the time really will fly past you.

Best Non-OSU was Game 1 of the 1990 World Series. Eric Davis' HR against Dave Stewart. Everyone at old Riverfront knew the Reds would beat the A's after that game.

Best Non-football OSU was the 1991 Buckeyes men's hoops win over Indiana at St. Johns in OT. Jimmy Jackson's pass to Treg Lee for the game-winner at the buzzer. Calbert Cheaney's turnover to set up the play. Watching Bobby Knight scowl off the court. I about jumped through my roof after that win.

Best non-football OSU game: Duke Game last year by far

Best non-OSU football game: Mentor vs Hilliard Davidson for the state title a few years back

Best non-football, non-OSU game: Lebron's first game back in Cleveland. Cavs lost by 30 but I've never had more fun at a sporting event.

Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite

The blowout of Duke last year was nice but the "Deal With It" revenge game against Wisconsin two years ago, which I also think was senior day, was the best non-football game I've ever attended by a landslide. I've never had to try so hard not to cheer while in the media section. That win felt so damn good.

The OSU/Indiana basketball double OT basketball game in 1991.

Best non-OSU events:

Duke upsetting undefeated and heavily-favored UNLV in the 1991 Final Four

Yankees beating the Red Sox in game 7 of the 2003 ALCS (Aaron Boone HR in extra innings caps a big comeback)

Games 4 and 5 of the 2001 World Series (each night featured a 2-run game-tying HR with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, and Yankee wins in extras)

Game 1 of the 2000 World Series -Another extra inning WS win for Yankees

Game 2 of the 1990 World Series- yet another extra inning WS game; Reds beat heavily-favored Oakland.

Game one of the 2005 Chicago White Sox world series was pretty awesome. I saw Jordan's last home game in Chicago as a Bull during game 5 of the NBA finals. Actually the coolest game I ever went to was when #1 Cincinatti came to Chicago to play the upstart DePaul Blue Demons who were supposedly emerging out of a 2 decade slumber. DePaul was in control for most of the game until Kenyon Martin went absolutley berserk at the end and Cincinatti escaped with a win. Older brother was a Depaul student and I was in 8th grade at the time. Pretty sweet even though it was a relativley obscure battle of ranked opponents.

My most memorable sports experience was 1989, Cavs v Bulls. I was a Cavs season ticket holder, and the 5th game of the playoff series was the most electric atmosphere I've ever experienced. The crowd was nuts from 15 minutes before the tip until "The Shot" ripped through the net and Cleveland's collective hearts. At which point the Coliseum was completely deflated. I don't think the lead was ever more than a few points either way, Classic Game with a defining moment.

I was in the first row on the floor in the student section (when it was behind the basket) for the '05 Illinois game when they were undefeated going into the last game of the season and Matt Sylvester hit the game winning three. That was probably the best basketball game I've been to. Adding to the fun was interacting with the Illini players before the game warmups when they were just shooting around. We were talking to the Illinois players down on the baseline and we would heckle the players every time they'd miss a shot. Deron Williams tried to pull me onto the court for a game of one on one...I found a slew of excuses not to get embarassed by a future NBA all-star. Dee Brown was a total a-hole though. The other guys would just laugh and joke and talk with us but Brown would flip us off and even chucked a ball at my friend's head.

Best non-football game is the no hitter that Wimmers threw against TSUN in baseball.  It got so tense, then so loud when he finished them.

College World Series in 2005 when Oregon State beat UNC.  The college World Series is definitely one of the best events I have ever attended. I highly recommend it for the baseball fan.  I was attending Oregon state at the time.

2006 NCAA second round game against Xavier at Rupp Arena.

Ron Lewis game tying 3 pointer.

The whole game I had to hear a bunch of butt hurt Xavier fans behind us talk about Thad was a POS for ditching them for the OSU job. It didn't help they were winning that game until the game tying 3. Sweet justice to win in OT!

This is also the first time I've heard the call of the game from TV. Gus Johnson HAHA!!

Non-OSU game was seeing Pete Rose get 4192.

Non-football OSU game was beating Illinois during the last game of the season.  Illinois was undefeated and ranked #1.  We sucked that year, but Matt Sylvester hits a 3 with 5 seconds to go.  That place was pure pandamonium.  I have a framed picture of the final score on the scoreboard hanging in the basement.

I wasn't at the game, but my favorite non-football game was in the Big10 Bball tourney and Turner hit that 35 footer or whatever it was at the buzzer to beat The Wolverqueens.  I only loved this game because I used to have this dipshit text me ever god damn day (I wasnt even friends w /him really) any time any of my teams were playing, and if someone missed a shot or dropped a pass I'd have to hear from him all game how bad they suck... anyways, he was texting me non-stop that game like Ha, Turner player of the year? Lol blah blah, and that was right before the inbounds pass... ahhhhh after he hit that game winner, I never heard from that dipshit again.
