That Ohio State is closing the Joyce Center is a turnabout after Notre Dame was the final team to play in the OSU Ice Rink in December 1998 before the Buckeyes moved to Value City Arena the next month.

Notre Dame 5, Ohio State 2
CHN: After Cal Heeter's rough outing last Saturday against Quinnipiac (to be fair, it followed a great outing Friday), Brady Hjelle started for OSU and played well -- but Notre Dame's firepower was eventually too much. Danny Dries actually spotted OSU a 2-0 lead early on. But the Irish stormed back on the strength of its stars, getting one from T.J. Tynan and a pair from Anders Lee.

Ohio State 4, Notre Dame 3
CHN: Notre Dame was unable to rally this night, getting itself in a big 4-0 hole that it wasn't able to recover from. As a result, the final game in the Joyce Center goes down as a loss. “We wanted to close the building with a win,” ND coach Jeff Jackson said. “It was Parent’s Weekend. There were a lot of reasons we wanted to do well. Regardless, this building has done us well. In my short time here we’ve had a lot of great moments and a lot of great players pass through here. I’m glad we were able to bring (former coach) Lefty (Smith) and Tim McNeill into the locker room before the game. This program wouldn’t be here without them.” ... This big question for the Irish this year will be whether they can get consistent enough goaltending. Mike Johnson was OK in the Friday win, but Steven Summerhays was pulled Saturday after allowing four goals on 15 shots. Either can be good, or not so good. Anders Lee scored his fifth, a PPG, to start the rally, but it ultimately was too late. ... “We did a good job of coming back, but we shouldn’t have been down 4-0 after two periods,” Jackson said. “They (Ohio State) outworked us in the first part of the game. It was disappointing that we didn’t get a better start tonight. It’s been a point of emphasis and it worked against us again tonight.”
