With the 2017 class in the book, let's start focusing on the B1G's 2018 recruiting classes.

Since 9/27/2016, the B1G has added 18 players with four new commits in February. Penn State leads all schools in the conference with seven new additions. The biggest pledge came from the nation's top-ranked APB Ricky Slade. Franklin also added three linebackers in February to his No. 1 ranked 2018 class.

Penn State has jumped out to an early lead, but Franklin and the Nittany Lions already have 11 players committed. The other 13 schools in the B1G combine for a total of 19 committed players. The gap will close as the months roll by.

Eight teams landed below the conference's average rating of 41.84. Of the eight teams below the average, five do not have a player committed.

It is extremely early in the cycle and it will be interesting to see how different the rankings will be in January of 2018.

James Franklin and Penn State currently have the top class for 2018.

B1G Stars Breakdown

Although Penn State has eight more players than Ohio State, the Buckeyes are tied for the B1G lead with two 5★ commits. Below, the teams are broken down by the stars in the '18 class.

Hopefully every team will have a commit when this is updated in March.

Kickers, punters and long snappers are not included in player averages.

Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes find themselves in a familiar spot, with the best player average in the B1G. Early on, the usual suspects are at the top. Look for Maryland and possibly Minnesota to make some noise as the '18 cycle goes forward.

Ohio State finished with a 35-point lead at the end of 2017. Meyer is starting '18 with a 36-point lead. Will he keep it?

Jaieden Woodbey is the third player to commit to Ohio State's 2018 class.

Michigan commit Emil Ekiyor (.953) is currently the highest rated OG in the B1G.

WDE Micah Parsons is the highest rated player in the B1G for 2018.
