So I saw Swinney's son has signed as a walk on with Clemson. I know this is not too common since many coaches either 1) don't have children entering college year after year and 2) many coaches kids are often not elite level athletes (good athletes, not great) to get a scholarship to a top school, but hypothetically, I was wondering for recruiting specialists out there, if:

A coach's son is an elite athlete (see John Elway), and can command a scholarship to almost any school in the country, if the coach can save a scholarship and pay his son's freight and treat him as a walk on for the program. The coach gets his son, an elite recruit whom every one in the country may want, does not waste a scholarship on him, and essentially can take an extra body which can amount to a recruiting advantage to that coach.  The coach, earning $5 million plus a year would not have any issue paying full freight for his son.

Has this ever been addressed by the NCAA? I know it is rare, but it could happen.
