Apologies. I know that Miles is not at LSU, but this is the best picture I could find.

Being a reader of the best Ohio State site on the planet, you already know that the Buckeyes have a stellar recruiting class for 2017. However, how does Ohio State and the Big Ten compare to the SEC?

The table below lists the teams in each conference side-by-side. The ratings are based on the average overall player rating of each team. Kickers, punters and long snappers are not included in the team ratings.

  • Ohio State has the highest-rated collection of commits. The Buckeyes are 19 points better than Alabama.
  • After Ohio State, the rest of the Big Ten falls short when compared to the similarly ranked team in the SEC.
  • The top four teams in the SEC have a better rating than Michigan.
  • Vanderbilt, the lowest rated team in the SEC, has a higher rating than Rutgers, Minnesota, Indiana, Purdue and Illinois.

Urban Meyer is eyeing his best recruiting class at Ohio State.

For those that would rather see the Top Ten teams between the conferences in a linear list, here you go. As a bonus, the number of 5-star and 4-star recruits are included.

OBSERVATIONS

  • Ohio State (5) is tied with Alabama with the most five-star recruits.
  • With 20, Alabama has the most combined five-star and four-star commits.
  • Only three Big Ten teams crack the top-ten when the B1G and SEC are combined.
  • Which conference has the most 5★ commits? The SEC has 10 and the B1G has seven.
  • What about 4★ commits? Not as close. SEC 89, B1G 58.

With two weeks to go, the other teams in the Big Ten are running out of time to step-up their recruiting game.
