The Closer.
With just over two weeks until National Signing Day, Urban Meyer is on track for a stellar '17 class.

How impressive is Ohio State's 2017 recruiting class? Let's take a look at the Big Ten's top committed players on offense and defense.

OFFENSE

2017 Top Ranked Offensive Recruits In The Big Ten
Pos. Player Rating Team OSU'S 2017 COMMIT
QB TATE MARTELL .972 OHIO STATE
RB O'MAURY SAMUELS .899 MICHIGAN NONE
APB JK DOBBINS .978 OHIO STATE
WR DONOVAN PEOPLES-JONES .992 MICHIGAN TREVON GRIMES (.980)
ATH BRENDON WHITE .938 OHIO STATE
TE MATT DOTSON .899 MICHIGAN STATE NONE
OT JOSH MYERS .974 OHIO STATE
OG WYATT DAVIS .987 OHIO STATE
OC CESAR RUIZ .978 MICHIGAN NONE

These three things will help put in perspective the Buckeyes' dominance over the Big Ten in offensive recruiting:

  1. The Buckeyes currently have six of the top players at each of the nine positions recruited on offense.
  2. WR is the only spot Meyer has a committed player on offense that isn't ranked the best at his position. Grimes is a pathetic second.
  3. Ohio State does not have the top RB or TE because the Buckeyes do not have a recruit committed at those positions.
Ohio State Is Throwing Serious Shade.

DEFENSE

2017 Top Ranked Defensive Recruits In The Big Ten
POS. PLAYER RATING TEAM OSU'S 2017 COMMIT
ILB AVERY ROBERTS .925 NEBRASKA NONE
OLB BARON BROWNING .994 OHIO STATE
CB JEFFREY OKUDAH .995 OHIO STATE
S ISAIAH PRYOR .971 OHIO STATE
SDE AJ EPENESA .985 IOWA NONE
WDE CHASE YOUNG .995 OHIO STATE
DT HASKELL GARRETT .966 OHIO STATE

These three things will help put in perspective Ohio State's dominance over the Big Ten in defensive recruiting:

  1. The Buckeyes currently have five of the top players at each of the seven positions recruited on defense.
  2. Safety Jeffrey Okudah (.995) and WDE Chase Young (.995) are the highest rated players in the Big Ten.
  3. Ohio State does not have the top ILB or SDE because the Buckeyes do not have a recruit committed at those positions.

With just over two weeks until National Signing Day, Ohio State has the best player in 11 of the 16 positions on offense and defense. If Urban Meyer is able to get DT Marvin Wilson to join, the '17 class will have three players rated at .995 or better.

DT Marvin Wilson (left) would make a fine addition to the Select Seventeen.

Damn, it's good to be a Buckeye.
