We all know the star system is imperfect, and while it can't accurately predict an individual's success, it's still a solid way to judge classes as a whole. Or is it? Here are the top all-time classes according to 247's composite rankings, dating back to 2000. If Ohio State's current class enrolled as-is, no additions or subtractions, it would be the 13th-best class of that era. If we were to keep all the current commits in the class and add Odukah, Akers, Tufele, and Browning, it would (with the current numbers) finish at 325.25 and be the top class of all time.
Here's how the top all-time classes panned out. Notice that four belong to Saban and four to UFM. (Each * means they have a year left to add to the totals.)

Your leader in the clubhouse is Bama's 2012 class with 50 wins and 2 titles, but each of the Tide's last 3 classes is in position to take away that crown. Interestingly, our 2013 actually has a game lead on that Bama class. The only true busts on this list so far are Florida State's 2002 class and the top-two classes of 2010, Florida and Texas, although with an 8-6 start, last year's USC class is trending that way.
