How Ohio State cornered the market on Blue Chip DT QB's

It's pretty amazing to see the run Ohio State has made on duel threat quarterbacks here in the last few years.

Obviously it started with the recruitment of JT  Barrett, but since then guys like Joe Burrow, Torrance Gibson (turned WR), Dwayne Haskins (pro-style/DT hybrid), Danny Clark, Tate Martell, and now it appears Emory Jones, have all decided that Ohio State is the best place for them to shine the brightest.

When you think about it, what are the other options for a true running/option QB to ply their trade and have a big stage to shine one?

Oregon?  Well since the Buckeyes thumped them in the natty, they haven't looked the same, and don't seem as appealing.  4 million uniform combinations don't always attract real, quality players.

Baylor?  You mean Scandaltown, Texas?  No longer a very appealing option since the coach that put their system together is out, and they're embroiled in a rape scandal.

Clemson?  They're not a pure spread in the vein of Ohio State, and IMO give their QB less of an opportunity to show what they can do with their legs.  Their QBs are more required to operate like a pro-style QB and not use reads as much.  Clemson continues to rise into "power" status, and a high draft choice for Deshaun Watson could make them a player in the continual DT QB sweepstakes, but for now it seems they're trailing the Buckeyes.

Texas A&M?  Sumlin's shine has turned to soot.  The days of Jonathan foolsball are long past, and QBs are looking elsewhere.  I feel for the WR recruits that chose to go there and missed out on great opportunities elsewhere.

Really, what else is there?  Any other "spread" offense I can really think of doesn't get the kind of pub that Ohio State does, so for these elite DT QB prospects, Ohio State really is the destination.  What a time to be a BUCKEYE!
