Obviously, many of us think this game is going to be very competitive with two very talented teams squaring off with a month to prepare.

One aspect that Ohio State has a very decided advantage going into the game is punting.

Cameron Johnston is one of the best punters in the country again this year averaging 46.24 yards/punt on the season.  Andy Teasdale from Clemson is averaging an abysmal 37.70 yards per punt, good for 121st out of qualifying 123 punters.

But it doesn't stop there.  As has been well publicized, Ohio State's punt team and Cameron Johnston have only had 12 of their 50 punts returned this year.  And on those few that are taken back, opponents are averaging a measly 3.25 yards/return.  On the flipside, Clemson is 5.50 yards per return.  This might seem nearly negligible, but coupled with their average punt, Clemson is averaging 32.20 yards on net punting for the year, while Ohio State comes in at 42.99.  That's over an 11 yard difference in field position.

This, coupled with the fact that Ohio State is 2nd in the nation in turnovers given (9) and Clemson is 108th in turnovers given, and Ohio State holds a MAJOR advantage pre-game as to what we can expect the field position battle to look like.

Jim Tressel would be very proud.
