The opening drive was the offense we saw earlier in the year. It worked great. Then the staff goes away from it and we are back to snapping every play with less then 5 seconds. going up-tempo puts the defense on its heels because they don't have as much time to get in there alignments based on our formations. Could it be that simple? re-watched the beginning of the Oklahoma game and we were not quite up tempo but we were getting the snaps off a lot quicker, 9 seconds left on play clock versus less then 5 most of the time yesterday. why not have several scripts ready to go, at least in the first half before the adjustments. you could certainly break up tendencies from scrip to script. with 2 guys in the booth you would think they would be able to have plays ready to go a lot faster then what they are doing now. missed the opening drive yesterday. absolutely shocking how the offense looked so crisp on that first drive and they didn't even change it because of the bad field position. imagine that we actually passed on 1st and 2nd down.
Northwestern: Opening drive Up-tempo worked, why did we go away from it?
