Christopher Jones wrote an insightful and critical article on LGHL entitled "J.T. Barrett was let down by the Ohio State coaching staff vs. Penn State."  The writer contends that the coaches did not put the team in a position to win. For example, despite his early struggles to pass protect, RT Prince was not provided any extra support such as a tight end on his side to help block.

The penultimate paragraph of the in-depth article concludes that:

"Barrett’s passing numbers did not look great, but he played one of his better games under the terrible circumstances that he was given. He kept calm in the pocket while avoiding rushers and constantly kept his eyes downfield, looking to make a play. The receivers — sans Samuel and Noah Brown — have all regressed...  Overall, J.T. Barrett battled the entire game, in a game where he shouldn’t have even been asked to battle."

And more on point was a "J.T. Barrett Passing Chart" that presented his detailed statistics for 51 pass plays in the game.  Very telling!

Drop Backs 51
Pressured 26
Hits 6
Sacks 7
Scrambles 5
Completions 26
Incompletes 14
Overthrows 3
Drops 4
Throw aways 2

Barrett was running around for his life and still completed 26 passes in spite of being sacked 7 times, hit 6 times and pressured 26 times.  Would you agree or disagree that the onus is on the coaches?
