Specifically, with the added alertness and hunger these two year's Championship teams played with as huge underdogs in their Championship journey.
The 2002, team that came to play against Miami Fla, in the Fiesta Bowl ( not the one that smuggled in overtime to beat Illinois)
vs
the 2014 team that went to play against Alabama in the Sugar Bowl (not the team that lost at home to Virginia Tech)
the 2002 squad was never beaten:
they beat the PAC 12 champs, the Big East Champs, held down Kliff Kingsbury/ Mike Leach's Texas Tech squad down....they held 6 teams under 10 points and only 2 out of 14 opponents got over 20 points. The 2002 offense, though it struggled at times scored 45+ points 4 times.
the 2014 team had a magical 3 game run to end the year, so much talent.
Tressel vs Meyer.......Dantonio's defense vs Herman's offense ....,there would be probably 30 NFL draft picks on the field.
would love to see Clarret run against the 2014 team defense, and Zeke go against That 2002 defense. Chris Gamble vs Devin Smith
for my money, and maybe because it's most recently happened, I'd pick the 2014 team to win the hypothetical game.
what say you?
