While watching all the Buddy Ryan coverage today, I saw some quotes from Cris Carter thanking him for saving his life with tough love. It reminded me how his son, Duron, was dished out some tough love of his own. From there my mind started reeling for other players that showed great promise as freshman, but then never lived up to the hype. Clarett is probably the most painful to think about (I still think we repeat if he's there). Spence got in his own way. Unless he turns it around, Dontre Wilson is also headed down the path of "not living up to expectations".
My question to you, especially the elder statesmen, is who are some other players that saw action early and made you believe they were headed to the moon before their career was derailed? I'm not talking about recruiting busts that never saw the field, but guys that actually had some playing time early. Who ya got?
