Explanation of the points system: two top ten lists were compiled, one for the community based upon comments and votes, the other based upon the resumes of the players mentioned on the thread.  First on a list = ten points, second = nine, and so on.

10. October 26th, 2013 Ohio State vs. Penn State - 2 points

Ohio State ran all over Penn State on this date.  Literally.  And I can give you 408 reasons why.

The buckeyes started the big plays in the first quarter, when following a Christian Hackenberg red zone interception Braxton Miller broke off this 39-yarder.

The good guys would punch it in twice more before the Nittany Lions could finally respond, making it 28 unanswered points to start.  Ohio State had another 39-yard rushing score, this time from Carlos Hyde.  Then with 9 seconds left in the half Miller connected on a 25-yard strike.

The score was 42-7 at halftime, and it was probably about that point everyone realized it was never going to be a close game.  We ran away with a 63-14 win.

9. November 28th, 2015 Ohio State vs. TTUN - 5 points

Rolling in with a 9-2 record and a shiny new head coach, the wolverines fully expected to renew the competitiveness the rivalry between them and the buckeyes once had.  But Zeke and co. had other plans.

Zeke would break the buckeyes free of a slow start with this 66-yard run with less than 2:30 minutes left in the first quarter.

A back-and-forth ensued for a couple possessions, but then a 25-yard touchdown reception by Jalin Marshall on play action would make it 21-10.

Ohio State never looked back.  After another Ohio State touchdown the bad guys kicked a field goal to make it 28-13 and try to stop the bleeding.  But we scored the final two touchdowns of the game, ending it all on a 17-yard Barrett run.

Elliott finished with 214 yards and 2 scores rushing.

7(t). January 12th, 2015 Ohio State vs. Oregon - 8 points

The Ducks never stood a chance in this national title game, even with a +3 turnover margin.  Marcus Mariota and the high-powered Ducks offense were somehow favored after Ohio State had already knocked off “gold standard” Alabama.  Their first drive even made it look like Vegas may be right, as they marched 75 yards for a touchdown without facing down number 3 one time.  But Zeke was quick to respond.

Ohio State would carry the momentum into the half for a 21-10 lead.  But freakish turnovers allowed the Ducks to get back in it.

But Eli Apple made an incredibly intelligent play to keep Oregon from taking the lead, and the buckeye offense capitalized on the next drive to go up 28-20 after three.

After that the buckeyes were just way too physical when they weren’t turning the ball over.  Two more Elliott scores made it a final of 42-20 for the good guys to take home a championship trophy.

7(t). October 14th, 1916 Ohio State vs. Oberlin - 8 points

The largest margin of victory ever for the buckeyes and the only time we’ve ever scored 100 points, the Chic Harley led 1916 squad -- uh -- beat Oberlin 128-0.  Halfback Fred Norton led the way with five touchdowns on the ground.

The score pretty much speaks for itself here.

5(t). November 29th, 2011 Ohio State vs. Duke (basketball) - 10 points

Unlike 4 of the first 5 games on this list, Ohio State’s great start is what puts them here.  We sprung out of the gate on an 11-0 run and never trailed.  Four players scored 17 points or more, Sullinger leading the way with 21.  The final was 85-63.

Duke was no slouch either, ranked 3rd at the time and wound up a 2-seed in the big dance that year.

5(t). March 6th, 2011 Ohio State vs. Wisconsin (basketball) - 10 points

Just a month before this game, the 14th ranked Badgers upset the buckeyes in Madison to end the #1 ranked team’s 24-0 start.  Now it was time for revenge.

Wisconsin would just have to deal with it.

Jon Diebler lit up from three, shooting 7-8 from downtown and scoring 27 points in total, and Wisconsin simply had no response.  It was complete domination throughout, and vengeance was dealt coldly in Value City Arena that night.

4. September 21st, 1996 Ohio State vs. Pitt - 14 points

As my best friend puts it, Mark May can suck on a turd.  Just to dump a little extra salt on that wound though, here is a record that will “never be broke.”

Pepe Pearson ran for three touchdowns and Germaine threw for two more -- in the first half.  It was 52-0 at the break.  From there it was pretty much cruise control to finish a shutout and manage 20 more points.

2(t). May 25th, 1935 Jesse Owens at the Big Ten track meet - 16 points

Owens' one-day blockbuster in Ann Arbor has no parallel, not only in track and field but in any sport. It is the greatest single day performance in athletic history

Sports Illustrated Track and Field Writer Richard Rothschild

Before the races of that late May day, Owens was doubting whether or not he should compete due to a lower back injury, but decided he would work through the pain and see how his body responded.  One of the best decisions ever.

Owens would break the world record in the long jump, 220 yard low hurdles, and 220 yard dash.  He also tied the 100 yard dash world record.  The first two of those listed were new standard setters in the events, as Jesse was the first to break 23 seconds on the 220 yard low hurdles and his long jump mark of 26 feet, 8 1/4 inches would stand as the world record for more than 25 years.

Of course, breaking or tying a world record in all your events means you smoked a Big Ten field in every. Single. Event.

2(t). November 23rd, 1968 Ohio State vs. TTUN - 16 points

Because I couldn’t go for three.

Woody Hayes

That was the great football coach’s response when asked why, up 48-14 in the final seconds of the rivalry game in 1968, he went for a two-point conversion rather than kicking the extra point.  They got it to cap off a 50-14 win.

Ranked number 4 in the country, TTUN was supposed to give the buckeyes a run for their money.  And a halftime score of 21-14 made it look like they just might.  Even after quarter three it was 27-14.

But a 23-point fourth quarter explosion propelled the game to this spot on the list.  The skunks just didn’t have a response.  Ohio State racked up 421 rushing yards in total, Jim Otis scored four times.

1. December 6th, 2014 Ohio State vs. Wisconsin - 20 points

Ohio State desperately needed a great showing against the 13th-ranked Badgers to try and get into the first CFP.

And what a showing it was.  You all know it.  59-0.

The first time we got the ball, Cardale Jones hooked up with Devin Smith for a 39-yard score.

Ohio State’s defense made a pair of stops before Zeke would break one off for 81 yards.

After some more buckeye stoppage, something was becoming clear that night: Fickell and Ash had Wisconsin’s offense figured out.  Stacking the box and not letting soon-to-be heisman runner-up Melvin Gordon III go anywhere, the silver bullets exposed the lack of a passing game the Badgers had.  And the result was a shut-out, with these scoring gems produced in the course of the last three quarters:

Final score:  Melvin Gordon 76 and 0, Zeke Elliott 220 and 2.
