When Urban Meyer came to Columbus he brought a new attitude, style and the clap. Tuesday night Cardale Jones was the featured player on John Gruden's QB Camp. At one point during the show Gruden inquired about the clap Ohio State's quarterbacks use to snap the ball.

You guys are on the clap all the time.– John Gruden

What does Gruden think about Jones and his clapping style? "You look like Big Bird or something." Gruden went on to say "The clapping drives me crazy." He also used film of the Hawaii game to illustrate the point that when defensive players clap it can throw off the offensive line.

Cardale let Gruden know that the Buckeyes weren't using the clap snap count against Hawaii. His revelation helped strengthen Gruden's argument against its use. Ohio State's offensive linemen are conditioned to move on the clap. Even though the Buckeyes were not using the clap snap against the Rainbow Warriors the offensive line would move when they heard the defensive players clapping.

I believe a man named Pavlov proved classical conditioning with his dogs. The slobs appear to have been trained to move on the clap and defenses might use that against them in the future. In 2016 will it be clap on or clap off for Buckeyes offense?

Gruden's final thoughts on the clap:

*NOTE* Ohio State's use of the clap is different than that of its Rival.
