If we are making a change and no one knows for sure if we are. I have mentioned this guy in a couple of posts about offensive coordinators. Sometimes it takes us the fans to bring some people to light that wouldn’t ordinarily be heard of right away. This guy reminds me of someone who recently left to coach at the University of Houston.

John Grass currently the head coach of the Jacksonville State University. You remember them from the game at Auburn this year when Auburn had to miracle themselves to victory? He was born in Ashville, Ala. and is 47 years old.

Grass' offense was record breaking in 2013 with Grass as offensive coordinator, the Gamecocks set a total of 49 school records, 13 Ohio Valley Conference records and three NCAA records.

A up tempo offense that scored 24 times on drives of less than one minute, the Gamecock offense amassed 6,637 yards of total offense, 1,755 yards more than any team in school history, and racked up 528 points. Something that should sound familiar to Buckeye fans, despite having to start three different starting quarterbacks because of injuries during that season, Grass' offense threw for a school record 3,033 yards.  JSU's 65 touchdowns were a new school record, while its school record 48 rushing touchdowns also broke the OVC mark.

Grass was named head coach of the JSU Gamecocks in 2014 after Bill Clark left to fill a coaching vacancy at UAB. During the regular season, the Gamecocks went 10-1 and received the #3 seed in FCS Football Tournament. They also won the Ohio Valley Conference outright for the first time.

This year at 12-1, they are seeded #1 and tonight they defeated Charleston Southern in the FCS playoffs 2nd round game by a score of 58 to 38. Next up is the winner of Sam Houston State and Colgate (alma matter of Marv Hubbard and Mark Van Eeghen for the old Raiders fans). This year the offense is averaging 37.8 points per game with an average of 222.9 yards through the air and 291.5 yards on the ground for an outstanding 514.4 yards a game on offense.

Grass is 22 and 3 as a head coach at JSU as of today. Discuss...
