Why We're Still #1

In the moments after the last second ran off the clock this week, my knee-jerk, passion fan reaction was to think and state there is no way this team should stay #1 in the polls.  But after an obligatory cooldown period and a few more beers, I've come to the conclusion that there is no good reason this team shouldn't still remain #1.

Because if we are not #1, who is #1 then? Setting penalties and fumbles aside, who has looked better? Those are all fixable things. If those didn't exist, we win this game by 60 and Elliot is the Heisman front-runner. Who exactly has looked so much better and played so much better competition? Baylor playing FCS teams and no defense Big 12 teams doesn't count.

We just played and beat an undefeated team. Who's to say that Indiana isn't actually good? Go watch the highlights, they sure move like they're good. Watch their 2nd string QB on that long TD run - that dude looked damn good. Watch their running backs, they were quick and shifty. On that TD run, he looked damn good. So did their receivers and their starting QB. Their defense made plays, including reading CJ and picking him off, while looking very good doing so.

So if we play an undefeated B1G team and only win close while putting up 34 points and over 500 yards offensively, with a running back who ties the record for second most yards ever rushed for in OSU's history, we all the sudden deserve to drop?

Let the team work out the fumbles and turnovers, along with the penalties. If theyfinally DO that over the next 3 relatively easy opponents, this team will be damn near impossible to beat. Bank on it. And put the Buckeyes back up at #1 because they haven't done anything to deserve to move from that spot.

Sidenote: Really, Florida? Damn...
