Twice during Saturday's game we had a lineman jump off-sides, jump back before the snap, and the officials blew the whistle and flagged us -- once for encroachment, once for off-sides. I ran back the plays and no contact was made either time.
I had thought in a case like the the defense had an opportunity to get back on-sides. I did read that you can get called for encroachment without making contact with an offensive player, if you have an "uninhibited path to the QB." But these calls were made on interior linemen.
Am I misunderstanding the rule, or did the refs blow these calls?
