For the most part the defense has been overlooked for the last couple of weeks due to the poor performance of the offense, so let's take a moment to give them their due.

Remember how maddening it was watching the Bullets get gashed by the halfback screen from Cal? Remember watching Clemson bubble screen them to death? Remember watching Iowa's tight-end (some guy you've never heard of before or since) get open at-will, and outrun the secondary? Remember watching big play after big play by the opposing teams passing game? Remember Dennard "arm punt" Robinson running through four defenders arm tackles?

How quickly we forget about all of these things.

The defense has been playing fantastic for the last several games. We are seeing sound fundamental tackling and tight coverage. Yes they have made a few mistakes, but to be perfect is nearly impossible, but we are seeing guys flying to the ball, getting pressure on the QB, and attacking, which was everything we have been clamoring for the last few years.

The defensive staff has done a fantastic job of bringing the Silver Bullets back. It is such a relief, that when they come on the field we don't have to worry anymore, that we have come to expect them to play well. That is quite a contrast to what we have been accustomed to seeing the last few years. No longer are we seeing our plodding defenders get outrun by opposing teams. The Bullets are flying to the football with bad intentions.
