My Theory on Poor B1G Perception

Never has there been a better time to discuss the B1G's faults than now. Ohio State and Michigan State seem to be well respected, but no one else is getting any love. There's an obvious SEC bias in the polls, but I think there's a little more to it.

Obviously the SEC doesn't have 10 of the top 25 teams in the country. There's no point arguing that. What they do have is teams that take care of their business. They win their share of marquee OOC games, but not at an alarming rate. They don't, however, lose to teams they should beat. Those ten teams wouldn't be ranked if they slipped up in the first week.

The B1G's bottom (and middle) tier loses games they should win. Nebraska should beat BYU. It's a quality game, but should be won. The only way to change perception is to hold serve and try to steal a few. Until they get their act together, they won't be viewed as the top tier. As it stands, the likelihood of match ups between undefeated B1G teams looks slim. Beating undefeated teams looks good, regardless of the reality of how good they really are. The SEC is the model for such.
