Even though there haven't been a lot of critiques of OSU under Meyer (nor should there be coming off of a national championship), one common critique I've heard among OSU fans (including myself early last season, if I'm being honest), was that Meyer doesn't use the TEs enough.
Interestingly though, the OZone posted this article earlier tonight which includes the following statistic:
Season: Catches by Tight Ends
2003 33
2004 19
2005 15
2006 21
2007 29
2008 11
2009 14
2010 9
2011 6
2012 17
2013 34
2014 36
Which makes me wonder, why do you think it is that fools like myself feel that there isn't enough utilization of the TEs in Meyer's system? It seems that Meyer utilizes TEs even more than Coach Tressell did, and yet for some reason I'd always assumed Tressell was much more TE-happy.
Also, anyone else notice that two of the three highest TE-usage seasons were national championship years? Is 30+ TE receptions the key to a championship? I'm not saying...I'm just saying. We just need to ignore that one pesky 34-catch season.
