Based on an account from Buddy Martin's book, "Urban's Way":

In 1992, Meyer had just been fired (along with the rest of the Colorado State coaching staff). Co. State assistant coaches made less than minimum wage (all hours considered), so the Meyer family bank accounts were tapped. They had no health insurance. Nikki was 2 years old and Gigi was on the way.

Urban Meyer made a decision. He went to Shelley and told her that he was through with coaching, and would be taking a good position in the insurance business. He assured her that he'd get the family's financial affairs back on track as soon as possible.

What wife wouldn't be thankful for that news? Well, Shelley Meyer. She told him to forget about the new job. That, somehow, they'd soldier through the crisis. And, to keep beating the bushes until he found another coaching position... to keep pursuing the thing that he loved. What an act of faith.

So, in this Buckeye's mind, Shelley Meyer is the sweetheart of the Buckeye Nation.
