We have been hearing for years now about the "SEC Speed". I really think that after last night's Sugar Bowl, we can put this myth to bed.
Ohio State looked a step faster to me overall. When you compare our defensive front four and linebackers, Ohio State was much, MUCH faster than Alabama. Our receivers had a few steps on the Tide corners and safeties, and EZE - well, his 85 yard TD run showed his speed. One 'Bama safety simply gave up on trying to run Zeke down, BEFORE he even got to midfield.
On Steve Miller's pick-six, Cooper gave up on the play. Miller outran quite a few 'Bama players.
I think we can coin a new term, Buckeye Speed, because the SEC speed wasn't enough to beat Ohio State.
