Ohio State junior center Jacoby Boren (Pickerington, Ohio/Central) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America second team as announced today by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).

To be eligible for the award, a player must be in at least his second year of athletic eligibility, be a first-team or key performer and carry a cumulative 3.30 grade point average (GPA).

Boren, a Sustainable Plant Systems major, is in his third year with the Buckeye football program. He has blossomed as a first-year starter at center, starting all 12 regular-season games while helping to anchor an offensive line for an offense that ranked fifth in the NCAA in scoring (44.1 ppg) and 11th in both total offense (503.4) and rushing (257.4).

Boren has been named a Big Ten Conference Distinguished Scholar for having an overall grade point average above 3.70, a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a three-time OSU Scholar-Athlete.
