I am posting this because there seems to be a lot of complaint about the CFP committee and their rankings, especially with TCU put ahead of FSU and us left out at 5. But I think we can all agree that, barring losses, only the current top 6 matter. The "BCS" rankings, if they existed this year, show that this is the case.
But again, to those complaining about the CFP, let me be clear in stating that Ohio State would have zero chance this year under the BCS system. Neither would Oregon, TCU, or Baylor, unless either Florida State or Alabama were to lose, at which point Oregon is the next in.
The fact that the CFP exists gives us a chance to get in. If the BCS were deciding the 4 teams, we still would require a loss ahead of us, and there's no guarantee that FSU would drop below us with a loss to GT, which means that Arizona, Mizzou, and Iowa State control our destiny, which doesn't evoke happy thoughts.
It is my personal opinion that if JT Barrett were not injured, we'd be #4 over FSU at this moment in time in the eyes of the committee, but they are waiting on how we do on Saturday before moving us in either direction. Still, we have to beat Wisconsin, and then we'll see how things shake up. The CFP is still better than the BCS used to be, and it's not close.
