The Braxton vs JT debate has been looming over us for some time now & will only gain traction as the season progresses, however yesterday's game offered insight as into why this debate holds no legitimacy until the Buckeyes' two star QB's actually compete in the off-season if #5 returns healthy...

If you missed yesterday's day game & went to ESPN to get an update you may have seen a title that read "OSU charges past Indiana behind Barrett's 4 TD's"; this was labeled over the games highlights for a moment & scrolled across the screen during ESPN's The Lead, yet anyone who watched this game knows that was not the story. This highlights the fundamental reason why we simply cannot compare Braxton & JT to each other yet; these are two completely different teams, with different weapons, & the effect they have on the game reflects differently on the play of their QB...

Last year's team relied heavily on its two most consistent weapons Braxton & the man we call "El Guapo", the 2 combined for one of the greatest 1-2 punches we have seen in recent history & powered the offense through the year accounting for an overwhelming majority of the it's production. This year's team relies on an arsenal of weapons; none more so than JT at the QB position, but bolstered by the fairly consistent play of Ezekiel Elliot, Jalin Marshall, Michael Thomas, Devin Smith, & others. However, these weapons & their placement & how they correlate with JT & his numbers can often skew the perception of the performance of their QB, when Hyde bolstered the team his production was not directly attributed to Braxton & this why we can't play the numbers game when attempting to suggest superiority, both have strengths & weaknesses that the other does not have & until we see them compete in the same system with the  same weapons comparing them is futile...

Yesterday's game was a prime example, anyone who watched the game, knows JT did NOT have a good game, he was out of sync with his receivers, & uncharacteristically inaccurate, resulting in 2 picks & missing a lot of wide open routes, but then Marshall took over the game, sparking the Buckeyes with a punt return before taking a couple of shovel passes to the house & making a spectacular play on a ball that was slightly overthrown, the Buckeyes take command & suddenly JT's stat-line is an impressive 302 yards & 4 TD's, highlighting why we just cannot accurately compare these players...

Make no mistake I am not demeaning the performance of either or suggesting superiority in any way, I only hope to help defuse some of these petty arguments that I am steadily finding it impossible to escape & am sure you guys are suffering as well, lets focus on this season & when its done let them compete, anything else is redundant...

Go Bucks! Lets put the fork in Hoke!
