I've never seen this comparison made and it's mostly speculation on my part and very wishful thinking.

The number 16 is a relatively uncommon number worn at Ohio State, as you can see in Remy's countdown article here.  Maybe it's not super uncommon, but it is uncommon in Buckeye football history to be worn by a starting QB.

The last time Ohio State won all the marbles Craig Krenzel, the previous #16 starting QB, was a first year starter that came in with relatively zero exposure.  Is it coincidence that we have another #16 first year starting QB that was extremely unknown that will lead us to the promised land?  One can only hope.  For now, I'm going with it until proven otherwise.
