Another week and this time a quality opponent gets its stats stuffed.
Ohio State went to East Lansing and defeated the Spartans 49-37. Despite losing the turnover margin by two, the Buckeyes still won by double digits. How did Ohio State fare on the statistical scoreboard? Total domination.
It's always interesting to see how a team's stats change after playing Ohio State. Michigan State took the biggest hits in the defensive categories. The Buckeyes gashed the Spartan's defense for 568 total yards. That is over 288 yards their average. Ohio State gained 300 by air (+116.0) and 268 by ground (+172.6).
Another telling stat is Ohio State's competency on third down. The Buckeyes converted 10 out of 14 third down attempts. That is a conversion rate of 71.2 percent. That is pretty amazing, especially against a top-ranked opponent.
