Going into this season, the Big Ten East looked much stronger than the Big Ten West. Five weeks into the season, though, the disparity between the two divisions doesn't seem so wide.
The East still probably has the two best teams - MSU and Ohio State. And Maryland might be pretty good. However, PSU and Michigan are worse than expected.
Meanwhile, in the West, Nebraska is better than advertised, while Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota give that division solid depth.
I still think the East is better overall, but the West might not be such a joke after all. And if Nebraska upsets MSU this Saturday, all bets are off.
