Freshman Arm:

Barrett

Barrett was able to overcome the Virginia Tech disaster and torched Kent State for 312 yards and 6 touchdowns. The six touchdowns tied an Ohio State record. Barrett was accurate as well. He was able to complete 23 of his 30 pass attempts (.767).

Many people will be praising the throwing abilities of Gunner Kiel, but don't sleep on Barrett.

Freshman Legs:

Samuel

True freshman Curtis Samuel became the first Buckeye to rush for 100 yards this season. Samuel ran for 100 yards (6.7 ypc) and two touchdowns against Kent State. For the season Samuel leads the Buckeyes with 171 rushing yards. To date he is averaging 6.3 ypc and has rushed for two touchdowns.

Seasoned Sophomores:

Dontre

Ezekiel Elliot and Dontre Wilson are primed to make more of an impact in 2014. Ezekiel Elliot averaged 9.3 yards per carry against Kent State and is second on the team with 141 rushing yards. After being held to -5 yards rushing on 2 carries against Virginia Tech, Dontre Wilson did not have a rushing attempt against Kent State and had 2 receptions for 22 yards. I expect Elliot and Wilson to have a more prominent role in the offense this week.

Block That Kick:
Since Urban Meyer arrived at Ohio State the Buckeyes have 9 blocked kicks/punts. Will Cincinnati be the first victim of the 2014 season?

Cliff Claven's Little Known Facts Corner:

Cliff's Corner

97 of Ohio State's 121 points have been scored by freshmen and sophomores.

The Buckeyes are 85-9 in Ohio Stadium since 2001 (includes 8 vacated wins from 2010).

Time for a return? The Buckeyes did not returned a kickoff or punt for a touchdown in 2013. That broke a ten-year streak of having at least one return in a season.

The Buckeyes have had 87 consecutive home games of 100,000 plus in attendance.
